I was in Nepal for a work trip, and I stayed at Tajaa Pha for approximately four months. It was an excellent place to stay! Shilandra and his family were extremely hospitable. As a solo traveler, I felt like part of the family and very comfortable at the Tajaa Pha. My laundry was promptly returned every week, and a great breakfast was always available if I did not feel like cooking that day. The home is centrally located to Patan - close to Patan Durbar Square, many other Newari heritage sites, and only a short taxi ride away from central Kathmandu. This is a must stay location if you are in Patan or want to escape hectic Thamel. The view from the top floor is great; it provides the best view of Patan and the mountains on a clear day.

I was in Kathmandu for about five weeks, interning at an office 5-minutes away. Mr. Shrestha is an incredible host who made breakfast and laundry arrangements easy, as well as arranging for taxis, walking tours and anything you might need. For example, I was here in December and I changed heaters not once, but twice with ease!

The location is stunning - it overlooks a temple on water and is a short walk away from the UNESCO World Heritage Site Patan Durbar Square! Patan/Lalitpur is an ideal place if you want to experience the old city and you can easily get a taxi to Kathmandu and Bhaktapur to visit other heritage landmarks and sites. The guesthouse is also a short walk away from Labim Mall.

The guesthouse has great wifi; is a short distance from convenience stores, food places, tech stores, and grocery stores; really !! hot running water; and will change your sheets and towels three times a week!

Mr. Shrestha and family are always around if you need any guidance or help! The perfect place to stay if you are a young woman travelling alone (as I was!).

If you want to experience a good stay in the city attached with its culture and fine service then Tajaa Pha is what you are looking for. The place will take you back to its old days with the monuments and cultural heritage well preserved by its community. It is few minutes walk from Durbar square. The rooms are well maintained with all facilities one can have, one shared kitchen and a beautiful terrace garden where one can relax and enjoy the view of the beautiful pond , its fishes and frequently swimming white ducks.
The owner Mr. Shailendra is very hospitable and very good human being as well as the family members.I had a great memorable stay for a month. And I would love to visit this place again.

Tajaa Pha was an absolutely amazing place to stay. I stayed here with 11 classmates while studying in Nepal for 3 months. Shilendra was so welcoming and kind, sharing his family traditions and festivals with us. A hi light was celebrating Dashain with his family by flying kites on the roof! The rooms were comfortable, with a bathroom and shower in the room, and a balcony with incredible views of the Himalayas. There is a shared kitchen with a filtered water tap (so you don't have to but bottled water!) as well as a microwave, stove, and toaster. We loved having the shared kitchen to cook together and work on school assignments in the evening. Sad to leave my new home in Nepal after 3 lovely months at Tajaa Pha!

I loved my stay at the Tajaa Pha Heritage Home. Firstly, the location is hard to beat - you're 5 minutes walk from the Square with all its temples and palaces (and restaurants). The guest house itself is beautifully appointed, with great views of the lake in front of the property (see photo). My rooms (I stayed on two occasions, once on the third floor and once on the forth floor) were spacious, clean and comfortable. Breakfast on the terrace was made with love and care (plus I had a tortoise begging for scraps which was novel). Lastly, the owner is really friendly, helpful, and a font of local knowledge.

Our week at the Tajaa Pha Heritage Home was the epitome of comfort. I was there with my family, and we all agree that this was an example of true and excellent hospitality! When we come back to visit Kathmandu, we will without a doubt return here. All the amenities offered were perfect, including the home-cooked breakfast served on the top floor (the bara’s were my favourite!). Also, we had the top floor with a balcony, and the view of the river, temples, and far-away snowy mountains were a beautiful sight to wake up to and to sleep to each night. Mr. S and his family treated us like we were family, which was truly the heart of the experience. We would all definitely recommend you stay here!

we had a wonderful time during our stay at Tajaa Pha !
it was our first time in Nepal and we felt like if we were at home ! Shailendra was very caring and take really good care of us ! always smiling, with good tips and recommandation to explore Kathmandu, what no to miss etc…

The room is spacious, clean and comfortable, with the view right on the pond ! The street is calm and quiet which is really enjoyable after spending a day in the noisy and very lively city.

And the real treat is the breakfast, that you can have on the rooftop. Delicious local food, with plenty of savor, perfect to start your day and feel fueled with a lot of energy !

I would 100% recommend staying at Tajaa Pha if you want a cosy, calm and friendly place to stay at Kathmandu.

I had a wonderful stay in Tajaa Pha!
First, it is difficult to imagine a better location in Kathmandu. The hotel is near a beautiful pond with many temples, and you can really feel an see the atmosphere of old Patan and experience culture. The property is also very quiet.
Second, the room was quite comfortable. not only by Asian, but also by Western standard. It was clean, the housekeeping lady cleaned daily.
Third, the owner is a very hospitable and kind hearted person.
Fourth, the rooms are quiet, so you can sleep really good.
Fifth, a beautiful terrace (see my photos) on the very top floor, where you can enjoy meditative mornings and evenings with a view on old Patan and also mountains.
I highly recommend this property and wish good luck to the owners.

I really enjoyed my stay here. Shalendra and his family are very welcoming, helpful, and knowledgeable about the local area. The rooms are comfortable, cozy, and clean. The view is beautiful, and the location is convenient to explore the surrounding Patan area. The breakfast was the highlight of our stay (really nice Nepali Chia tea, coffee, yogurt, fruits, eggs, bread, juice). I would recommend to anyone! 10/10
