The Life Story Resort proved to be a wonderful place to stay while I was in Nepal. The owner Slava and his staff are incredibly gracious, providing first class service. They're also very knowledgeable regarding Nepal and were happy to answer questions about getting around and places to visit. The rooms and other facilities are kept clean and are beautifully decorated. The location is very comfortable; it is a traditional style structure for the area giving it plenty of character. The food was well prepared and reasonably priced. Over all it was a wonderful experience, I would highly recommend a stay here to anyone.

An absolutely amazing place to stay: Located in Bubahal Chowk, the inner court yard of a Buddhist temple in Patan/Kathmandu. this recently opened guest house has been lovingly restored in the tradition of a true Newari style house. The owners Slava and Alexej run this guest house in aid of two orphanages and most of the profit of the guest house goes into supporting these two houses for over 20 children.
The renovation and the decorations of the rooms have been done with a lot of love and attention to detail, the plaster work being a mix of smooth plaster, brick work and small recesses for candles or statues. Absolutely exquisite.
The rooms offer accommodation for singles, doubles and families, and currently the owner are renovating the last room into a serviceable apartment.
Beds are very comfortable. Everything is wonderfully clean.
The bathrooms offer European style toilets (very useful), beautiful washing basins, individual hot water through automatic gas heaters, and a lovely shower plus basic toiletries.
WiFi is fast and free, mobile reception very good.
Rooms can be equipped with a fan during the hot pre-monsoon season. The entire guest house is very secure and you feel safe - the house sustained no damage during the two strong earthquakes apart from very few very superficial smalal cracks in some of the plaster work.
You need to be careful with your heads: Newar style houses are traditionally built with low doors and low ceilings.
The roof top terrace provides a beautiful view over the court year and of the "Golden Buddha" statue opposite. At 5 am there is a brief Buddhist ceremony at the temple with temple bells but it doesn't last more than 5 minutes and one can quickly return to sleep or use the opportunity for some morning meditation :)
The staff (Slava and Alexei) and the two ladies are simply marvellous. Wonderful personalities, great cooks of traditional and other food. They will anticipate our very wishes and try to make you very welcome and comfortable including suggesting and arranging specific sightseeing opportunities. In the evening, guests are provided with free tea, and the biscuits can be purchased at a very low price.

I used to live and work in Nepal for 8 years and know from experience that it is not easy to please some of the tourist visitors - however, having said that, the management of the "Life Story Guest House" have certainly discovered the perfect recipe for the individual traveler, for small groups and most importantly for people who like to experience a holiday with a high degree of cultural authenticity and family feeling. Thank you very much, guys - during my post-earthquake work here and working days of 14-16 hours a day it was a pleasure to "come home" to your place in the evening :) When I come back for the second round I'll definitely stay here again. And by the way - prices are very good :)

I am very happy to share our really good experience in this hotel/guesthouse, and has been really the best place we have been stay in Nepal, and one of the nicest we have stayed so far in all our trips in Asia.

The Guesthouse is amazing, beautiful historical building (at least from the XVII cent.) well renovated, super cleans rooms in Nepal style with all confort and facilities. Last but not least super good breakfast, with a big choice from western to nepali food, all with view from the sunny rooftop bar. We have always had hot water, internet and electricity working.

The staff is extremely nice and helpful, we would like to thank them for helping us in having a great stay. They were always ready to give us suggestion to where to go, and helping us find a cab for short or long trips, but also well to chat about Nepal, History and culture.

The guesthouse is located in a beautiful court, where you can feel the real nepali day routine, from the preyers to a handu wedding, and it's a little walk distance from durbar square, the most beautiful in our opinion in Nepal, before the earthquake.

We know that the guesthouse lucky hasn't been damage from the earthquake, you can stay there safely!

I looked for accommodation near Pulchowk road and walking distance to UN Building in Kathmandu. My destiny brought me to beautiful “The Life Story” Guest House and my 10 days in Kathmandu are memorable part of my own life story in Kathmandu. You should be aware that this accommodation is far from the main roads, which is very good, you are not hear road noises and it’s far from road dust and gas emissions. I accommodated in Delux Room. Very kind and positive staff met me in the hotel. The Hotel rooms are decorated in Nepalese cultural style. At the top of Guest House small dining room with convenient and useful balcony where you can choice between siting outside early morning or late evening or siting inside during rain. I cannot describe fantastic view from this balcony. During my 1st dinner there, I have been informed about praying time early at 05:00am in the temple of community squire. It was extra bonus for me, because of I am waking up at the same time, I switched off my alarm clock. During my living in “The life Story” I have met nice guests from different part of the world and it was also big pros for the alone travelers, where after hard working time you can talk with different people about everything which is interesting. About location - You can google this location and receive additional reasons to be here. Big thank you to Andrey and Stanislav! They are very client oriented and supportive. I just mention that I need to buy Nepalese organic coffee beans and locally produced tea, they offer me to help in this, bring me different type of tea and coffee for tasting before buying.
I am highly recommend "The Life Story" for accommodation to the business travelers as well as to the tourist visitors for explore Kathmandu.
