Five14 Bed & Breakfast is your home away from home located in a quiet part of Kathmandu. It is a great spot to relax, and our mix of Nepali and international staff will help you get the most out of your visit to Nepal. Breakfast is included; cooked by our amazing chefs onsite at Kairos cafe. Reviews say we offer some of the best coffee in Kathmandu. We are located a short walk from the best dining in the city, have hot showers, free wifi, and our profits go to help fund opportunities for Nepali people at risk for exploitation. We have recently expanded so we can meet the needs of larger groups; whether you need a room for a couple or rooms to accommodate a team, we have what you are looking for.

Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

I stayed at Five 14 for about 2 weeks while visiting in Kathmandu. SUPER friendly staff who genuinely care about their guest's well being. They were always asking how I was and if I needed anything. Clean rooms, beds and bedding are all super comfortable. The King beds are the most comfortable (my son was there and he slept on a twin and then tried the king). Hot showers are wonderful and the laundry service was nice to have. Wifi is nice and strong. They can change your money and provide SIM cards. which was very convenient. There is heat and A/C. You can walk to LOTS of great restaurants and there is a great market up on the corner with wonderful things like Gatorade :). The cons are that because there is a restaurant on the first floor, you will be hard pressed to sleep past 6:20 a.m. when the kitchen staff arrive and start singing and clattering things around. This will last throughout the day and then ceases at around 9:30 p.m. A sound sleeper would likely have no problem. My first room faced the road and there was lots of road noise - honking etc. I moved to a room in the back and it was significantly quieter. Also, on their website, it says $45 for a room with attached bath but I was charged $60/night?? The good part is that they use their profit to support organizations that help Kathmandu so that is really great. If I wasn't a light sleeper I would definitely stay here again. I loved the cafe on the first floor - so convenient!! Also... the air quality in Kathmandu is abysmal. And on the third floor there is a door to the outside that is left open all day letting in all the air. I would love to see this door closed and air purifiers in the rooms. I had an air quality moniter with me and the readings on the air in my room were high and in the range of "polluted".

This place is fantastic! The staff are super helpful, the room is comfortable, the cafe on site serves great food and wonderful coffee, and the location is a great place to explore the wonders of this city from. They even organize all sorts of tours and adventures for you if desired. I highly recommend it. I will stay here when I return for sure!

Five14 made our trip to Nepal so much better than we expected. This place is literally a DIAMOND in the rough. We could come back from being in the crazy that is Kathmandu and just relax and feel at home. It was like having a little piece of home in the middle of Nepal :)
First let me say the staff is simply amazing!!! Everyone was so kind and considerate and went the extra mile to take very good care of us.
Second we were a little worried about eating and drinking and staying warm while there. But NONE of those things were a concern at Five14. Our room had a heater and we were comfortable the entire time. And they have the cutest little cafe downstairs that is run by a staff that knows what Americans traveling to Nepal need to stay safe and not get sick. We ate there everyday and never worried about getting sick.

I believe my room's name was RedPanda. I found it a pleasant place to sleep and work on my laptop, although I did not use the desk. The bed was very comfortable. Running the split unit heater became more necessary for an hour or so as the nights became colder. The eatery downstairs was staffed by pleasant and considerate cooks and waiters. The varieties of tea and coffee were pleasant and well-prepared. Most meals were good and extra sauces were provided upon request. The cinnamon bun pancakes and lattes were staples for me daily. Pabitra the manager (as I understood) was very caring and detail-oriented. I found the electrical outlets and power strips of poor quality and it was hard to plug anything in firmly. The pressure in the hot water shower was low but functional. Conference room was very useful to have for group meetings. I would gladly stay here again!

I really enjoyed my stay here, they have set my expectations high for other endeavors. They keep everything clean, the staff are really cool people, they have good food down stairs, and the hikes are impressive. Our guides looked out for us on our trips especially on what was safe to eat or drink. When you have had a long, busy day in the city it's nice being able to come into the calm atmosphere that they create there. An epic place to stay!

I can't say enough good things. The rooms are great - the beds are unbelievably comfortable. I stayed here for a couple weeks and I chose the private bed and bath - killer value! The building itself is really cute with a rooftop area and little areas to explore. The cafe is perfect - I loved having food I liked and trusted right at the B&B. The staff of the cafe were always SO happy and welcoming that you couldn't help but feel part of the family. When I'd come back from exploring town there were always smiles and often hugs from the team. They arranged everything we needed and were patient as our plans changed as they do when you're travelling. Xiwan (the general manager) introduced himself the first night and really got to know what we were doing in Nepal and what kind of things would interest us. He was a trusted contact that I ran everything by and nothing was ever an inconvenience! He was so happy to help, as are all the staff. We did the Justice Tour which I highly recommend even though it will break your heart. Five14 is using business for good and the fact they want to educate travellers about the dark underbelly of the city, and what can be done about it, is remarkable. The work they do in the villages is commendable and I am SO HAPPY I got to do my small part to support such a great social business.

I havent been to all the places, but my guess would be that this is the best place to stay in Nepal. I will never go and stay anywhere else unless its a friends house (im a Nepal regular).

The staff are very helpful and it feels like your joining a family that actually cares for each other

Hello - thanks for inquiring. It's 2,800/night for a double room with a shared bathroom and 3,000/night for a room with an attached bath. This does not include VAT tax, which is 13%.
