Stayed here end of 2019 for a few days at the end of the holiday.
Sarita was very warm and welcoming, and a wonderful hostess.
When during dinner she starts telling stories, you are guaranteed to stay longer then you had planned, and before you know it your whole itinerary for the next few days is filled with interesting new locations to explore.
She is also a wonderful cook, and likes to bring all kind of people together.

A few notes about the location:
+ Very well reachable by (public) transport and taxi, as it is next to the ringroad.
+ Easy walk down the street to the historic centre
+ Close to all necessary shops and services.

- The rooms at the front of the house are noisy, day and night, due to the ringroad.

Sarita, the owner of Sanu's House in Patan, is absolutely fabulous. She is kind, helpful, and extremely sweet. With her advice on where to go for trips, shopping, restaurants, you don't even need a travel guide! The hotel price includes breakfast, and lunch and dinner are available for 150 rupees ($1.80 Canadian each). She is very accommodating about food preferences (ie. food allergies, etc). Rooms are clean. Wifi is available for most of the day, and back up lights are installed for power outages (a constant in Nepal). One of the best features is a beautiful, big, 2-story balcony on the roof, with lots of plants and a great view of Patan. The location is also great, as it's a short cab read from the airport and downtown Kathmandu, and is close to Patan's historic Durbar Square.

What an amazing family and place. The hospitality here is not catered to those who want a typical hotel/hostel like experience - it is rather of genuine and sincere care and love, that of which made me feel as though I was included into a family.

You will not walk away from this place feeling tired and unsatisfied. You will feel looked after, well fed by incredible food, and energized by great sleep and enjoyable discussions.

My favorite guesthouse in four months of travelling!

I loved Sanu's guesthouse. The staff was super friendly, especially when I needed to get to the other side of Kathmandu and all taxis were on strike..the uncle of the house took me all through the busy streets and public transport (which can be insane with 2 rucksacs) to my destination. He didn't need to go all the way,but I was VERY fortunate for his guidance. Good room, delicious cheap homemade food :) love this place, I want to come back!

At Sanu's House you have the opportunity to experience the best of the true Newari culture, where they treat you with warmth and kindness and understanding, based on a culture that dates back centuries and which has remained unspoiled to this day. It is the kind of place where you stay, and, then, you do not want to go away again. The mainstay of the place is Satri, a daughter in her mid-thrities, who is a true model of goodness who speaks very good English and is really helpful in every way. The house, in typical Newari style, was built by Mr. Sanu, who made sure to buy very good wooden furniture and sturdy bathroom fixtures which would endure and function satisfactorily due to their good quality. Excellent family! I am happily writing this on the free-in-house wi-fi network at my desk by the widnow, in the room, where the light and temperature are just right! Happy! Happy!

Sarita ...it's pretty much all about the women many many good things to say about her, very helpful and very warm human :) will sort you out and explain :)
She cooks for you a good food, she makes you a good tea you sit in her kitchen and talk, relax before or after that beast of a city out there.
Now the practical side of it: it is located on a City Ring road which means that road outside the window is endless if you just get on that bus and remember the junction points it is oh so easy to navigate the Kathmandu. It is 10-15 mins walk from Patan Durbar Square which is one of the nice places and very easy to navigate. It is very easy to go to Bakhtapur 30mins from where you step out the house. Now for me the location gets 5 cause from the same bus stop i can go to many places with one bus!
The House: it is basic, all you really need, haven't seen the renovation in a long time but so are many others, it is clean, there is no difference whether you have a room towards the road or other side cause you get to hear dogs in the nights and human noises once the first light beam strikes. So i say it again Sanus house is all about Sarita who runs the place and location if you want to see places :)
P.S oh and it is so affordable :) the value is the best and out of this world

I can't recommend this place more! Sarita and family provide everything you need while in Kathmandu. I stayed in Sanu's House for two months while working in Kathmandu and the warm welcome from day one lasted the duration of my stay.

The accommodation is the perfect mix of western comforts (with free filtered water, solar-heated water, Wifi, a library, clean rooms and linen) and Nepali culture. Sarita is a fantastic cook, serving up a feast of various dishes every breakfast and dinner and has a wealth of knowledge about Kathmandu and the surrounding area; including places to go, how to get there and how much you should be paying.

The location is great, situated a short stroll from the charming and authentic part of the city, Patan and with bus and tuktuk links just down the road.

I highly recommend staying here for any duration of time. Thanks Sarita!

We recently went to Patan for two days and were warmly welcomed by Sarita and her hospitality. She is one of the nicest people ever. We came to Patan to look for statues to ship back and sell in the states-- Sarita was more than helpful in telling us where to go and offered to come with us if we needed help negotiating or finding any of the shops. When you stay you get free breakfast and it is delicious-- although we wake up late and breakfast is made early she would still give us breakfast and heat it up for us. She also serves lunch and dinner for Rs150 -- her cooking and home-y nepali style floor seating area make everyone feel at home. There is a library and nice rooftop for everyone to use. The rooms were super clean and all had new racks to hang clothes, a closet, desk and chair and nice bed. Water bottle refills from the high tech water purifier are free which is a huge plus. When we left she bestowed a tikka and flowers for a safe and joyous journey and went out and negotiated a taxi for us before watching us take off. If you go to Patan you MUST stay here!!!!!!!!

Arrived at Kathamandu in mid February on a open ended trip to Nepal/India. Sanu's house was recommended to me by a facebook friend. The cab driver at the airport had no trouble finding the house. Sarita warmly greeted me at the door and welcomed me into her homestay. My room was very comfortable and I enjoyed the surrounding area of Patan. Kathmandu is within walking distance or you have many options with public transportation to get anywhere you may need to go. Sarita is very knowledgeable about the city and can help direct you. She also knows many surrounding villages. Sarita took me and fellow house guests to local festivals and day trips from time to time. My first few days there she gave me a map and showed me some local sites to see. I spent many days just wandering around the streets, mesmerized by all the sites and sounds. Saritas family is also very warm and genuine as well. I enjoyed talking with her brother in the mornings while he was working in his shop. I was only going to stay for a week but ended up staying over a month. Sarita is also a wonderful cook, and I ate most of my meals there. Thru out my stay I was fortunate to meet many fellow travelers from all over the globe. It really felt like a home away from home. I enjoyed Sanu's house and will always remember my time in Patan/Kathmandu.

Just spent nearly 2 weeks at Sanu's house and found Sarita and her family to be really friendly and helpful. Budget accommodation, so basic, but very clean and the food was good. The only real drawback is the dusty roads and constant traffic.
