Was able to score a great rate of $115.99 for a king room on Monday 3/2/20, during their 20% flash sale. Room was very nice with nice amenities. Room had a refrigerator and a small microwave. Nice bathroom with large tub, lighted makeup mirror and comfortable bed.

There is a small indoor pool with a separate hot tub. There is one restaurant, a gift shop, and a bar. We did not utilize the restaurant because the reviews were so bad on the food. In the morning there is a nice free coffee set up in the lobby area and if you ask the front desk, they will give you to "go cups" for your coffee. McDonald's is directly next-door for a cheap breakfast in the morning.

Your dining options are very limited in this town. We had dinner at Plaza Bonita. Okay Mexican food, nothing great.

This property is located 10 minutes from the main entrance of the Grand Canyon. There are also buses that stop directly in front of the hotel which will take you into the park to the visitor center. If you take the bus, park passes are $20 a person and you must have a ticket before you get on the bus. You can also drive into the park and they charge $35 per car which is the cheaper way to go (doesn't matter how many people are in the car). Just be warned that parking is limited. So go early or late. Grand Canyon is magnificent!

A very nice quiet and clean place to stay near the Grand Canyon. You are not inside the park and there aren't any views but it is convenient and close to the park entrance. The bar was okay and we ate a couple of appetizers there but the food is very expensive! We did not eat any meals at the restaurant. The wait staff was also less that enthusiastic and seemed to be more interested in watching the sporting events on the TV rather than serving their customers. When we asked for extra bread to go with the steamed mussels you would have thought that they had to pay for it themselves.....and that happened both times we ate there!! We would certainly think about staying there again - but only if the in-park hotels were full...and we would plan on eating elsewhere...

I visited the Grand Hotel in March 2022 and will share some of the pros and cons:

On the positive side: the Grand Hotel is uniquely located minutes away from the Grand Canyon. The quality of the hotel is decent, hotel staff is friendly, and the rooms were comfortable. The Grand Hotel is a few minutes walking distance from all the restaurants, grocery stores, and of course, the south entrance to the Canyon. The hotel lobby is nicely decorated with local art and they offer complimentary coffee in the lobby in the mornings. The common area is nice for sitting, relaxing, reading, or playing board games.

But the downsides: Overall, I thought it was a bit overpriced. If you are simply looking for a place to stay near the Grand Canyon, I think you could get a similar room down the street for less money. Moreover, after booking tours of the Grand Canyon through the hotel, the Grand Hotel staff gave me incorrect information (three times) on how and when to get to the tour. We ended up missing our tour and did our own self-drive of the Canyon. So just make sure you have all of the correct tour information before arriving. The rooms also have thin walls, so consider bringing a white noise machine or ear plugs if you are a light sleeper.

We booked this hotel because of the abundant Covid guidelines posted on it's website. Beware - the hotel does not follow these! After driving 8 hours to get to the hotel, we were given a room that was not only NOT Covid clean, it was simply dirty. The bathroom had hairs in the sink and the duvet covers were stained. After speaking to two different front desk staff, we were finally given another room. We decided it would be best to wipe all surfaces down ourselves. Considering the amount of dust and dirt that showed up on our wipes, it was clear that the rooms were not being cleaned well. Throughout our stay, we ran into housekeeping staff walking around with masks pulled down under their chins - mouth and nose fully exposed. One housekeeper even came to our room to deliver towels with her mask pulled down under her mouth. Despite the big sign posted outside the elevator that says "Occupancy 1," a housekeeper walked into the elevator right after us. Guests were frequently coming into the hotel and walking the hallways without masks. Since staff are not allowed to enter the rooms, we were told to leave our garbage outside at night and someone would collect it, but the next morning, it was still there. One afternoon, we requested a roll of toilet paper, and waited 30 minutes for it to be delivered. The lighting in the rooms was so low, it was nearly impossible to see, even in the daytime. The wall a/c was very noisy and kept us up at night, and the garbage trucks woke us up in the morning. The towels are so rough, we couldn't use them to on our faces. Hotel staff was not friendly or helpful. At the end of our stay, we wrote a note to the (absent) manager asking to be contacted to discuss the many issues we encountered. S/he never bothered to respond. Bottom Line - don't plan to stay at this hotel unless 1) you don't care about Covid protections, and 2) you are prepared to be aggravated.

At first glance the hotel is very charming. Our first experience was checking in. We arrived late as our flight arrived in Flagstaff, and the staff member seemed annoyed. She let us know that the housekeeping is only as requested, for example if you need towels you have to make specific requests for them and any other items. The next morning my mother and I went down to see about getting an extra room for our stay. The hotel didn’t seem too busy and there wasn’t anyone waiting at the desk, so we approached. As soon as we asked about another room the man at the desk started shaking his head and telling us how difficult it would be to add on, and then he wrote down the cost on a slip of paper and slid it across the desk at us. It was the same we were paying for the other rooms and we weren’t surprised. We said ok and he continued telling us how difficult it would be to book another room. I told him to just forget it and we walked away. He was incredibly unpleasant. A couple of days in and we’ve been hiking and swimming so I requested towels and for the garbage to be emptied, making sure to call prior to 8am. When we came back to the room that afternoon one bed was made, there were no towels in the room and no garbage bags, and to make it a little more strange my husband is missing a pair of shorts and a shirt and we found a hotel pillowcase in our luggage. We have not really encountered issues like this in our travels before. The clothes weren’t of sentimental value, but it creeped us all out. To cap it off the last night we had dinner at the steakhouse. It was like everything but the wings were microwaved. Highly recommend going to Big E steakhouse just a block down the road. We won’t do a repeat stay here.

Stayed here the last weekend of April 2021. Loved the lodge atmosphere of the hotel. The staff at the front desk was friendly and gave us some good recommendations. The room was clean with modern amenities, beds were comfortable and shower was clean with good water pressure. There was no daily room cleaning service due to COVID, but this has become standard across most hotels so that was not surprising. We were only there two days and had more than enough towels and supplies that we did not need to request anything. In fact the bath towels were in a sealed bag, which was unique from other hotels we've stayed at during COVID and was nice if you are the type to really be concerned about cleanliness and health safety. This was my first time staying at the Grand Hotel (had stayed at the smaller hotels in town on previous trips) and I would say this has been the best of them. We did not eat at the steakhouse but we did get a drink at the saloon both nights and really enjoyed it. The bartender was very friendly too. There is also a really nice gift shop in the hotel with fair prices. Would definitely stay here again.

We recently spent 3 nights, at $500 per night. One week before arriving I called with questions about what services would be available during our stay, was told a manager would return my call. Never returned. I called back twice over the next week, was told manager was not working on those days.
Due to staffing problems (an issue everywhere), the restaurant hours and service were limited, long waits, no reasonable system for call backs. One family with 3 kids lost their place when they gave their name, were told it would be 90 minutes and to wait in the lobby to be called. They returned before the designated time and were told their table had been ready 15 minutes early and they weren't there. Name went back on the wait list.
2 types of breakfast boxes were supposed to be available from the gift store at $12 for takeout. All were sausage although half were mislabeled as cheese and egg tortillas. Clerk was flummoxed and claimed correct ones would arrive soon. They did not.
Hotel had one elevator to service 3 floors, also used by service staff with carts. No service elevator? Our standard king room had frayed towels, old linens, cheap pillows and an old, lumpy mattress.
Front desk personnel were adequate but pretty indifferent to everything. Room cleaners were all working very hard every day. Treadmills were broken in gym.
Advantage of this hotel is that it is close to the park entrance and has an indoor swimming pool. Disadvantages are many. Other hotels in the area are half the price. This hotel is not what you would expect for the price (even in a tourist area.)

We have stayed at the Grand Hotel before, approx. 5 years ago. I realize it's the sign of the times and I don't fault the Hotel. They clearly were short-staffed there was no one at the front to help with luggage, food trays in the hallway, luggage carts left by guests in the hallway. For the nightly rate, I felt that there should have been someone to help with luggage, and cleaning throughout the hallways should have been better. The room was not vacuumed, I understand they cannot clean them daily due to the shortage of staff members, however, they should have done a full cleaning prior to new guests checking in.

A somewhat not so enthusiastic reception upon arrival, but I received a top floor room as requested. The lobby is nicely decorated with lodge type decor including dead animals and a large fireplace. My room was spacious with two queen beds, desk and chair, dresser, kitchen cabinets a fridge (no freezer compartment) and a microwave. The bath was nicely tiled and very clean. I had quiet nights, but the flushing of water, showers and closing of near-by doors was interrupting. The hotel has a nice restaurant and bar within the building. The location is within 10 minutes of the Grand Canyon Village and Visitor Center.

This is a good hotel for visiting the Grand Canyon south rim. The rooms are typical of this kind of thing but clean, comfy beds, very quiet at night. We are from the UK and have been visiting the USA every few years, mainly the national parks so we know only too well this kind of place usually relies on the location, cranks up the price and doesn’t really care. That isn’t the case here. Staff are great from check in and especially in the restaurant. If you’ve been here before you will know dining options are limited [it hasn’t really changed in over 20 years] but the hotel restaurant is very good. Quality food and good drinks selection including cocktails although I didn’t try one they looked good. Staff are very pleasant particularly Megan and the slightly older gentleman whose name I missed but made our dining experience unforgettable. I’ve read some of the recent reviews complaining about everything - they must be hard to please because I’ve just had a text message sent out by the hotel informing me that the owner of a vehicle in the car park has left it’s lights on. I’ve been here three nights and I’m wishing I’d arranged to stay longer. There is also a pool that looks ok, my kids enjoyed it but I’ve not come to GC for the swimming. Breakfast also ok. Finally - air con very effective although louder than some units but not so bad it keeps you awake.
