We found La Iguana Perdida online after deciding that we wanted to get married at Lake Atitlan. We sent an email asking if a wedding could happen and received a resounding YES as a response. Not only could a wedding happen, we were steered toward a beautiful garden where the ceremony could take place (Jeanne's house), hooked up with a...

Considered spending a single night at Lake Atitlan, ended up staying a week. This place is great - the social aspect, the food, the staff, all surpassed any expectations. The location is lakefront and tranquil, with day hikes to nearby towns easy and scenic. I stayed in the open-air dorms and never regretted it. There are insects, but you're in...

This is a great hostel located in undoubtely the most beautiful location on lake atitlan. The rooms are basic, but clean & rustic, the views amazing, the people friendly...it has so much going for it! Only negatives are ....the food in the restaurant (which is one of the only places to dine here) is expensive...compared to the accommodation...so the stay...

Thank you for your review, both the positives and the negatives. I am surprised that you could hear music from the restaurant all the way from your room, perhaps it was from the tuk tuks across the road.........we will have to check it out and see, so thanks for bringing that to our attention. The food is cheaper here than...

The hostel has a very nice location, exactly on the lake, you can only reach it by boat so after the sunset you are kind of stuck there. The place is very nice, well furnished in the common areas. The staff is made of young americans who want to party and have fun so the atmosphere is little bit crazy, expecially on saturday night...

Thank you for taking the time to write us a review, we always appreciate constructive criticism and try to use it to improve in any way we can. There are a few things that are out of our control however, such as the wild life that comes with being in the tropics. Most of the spiders you will have seen...

Stayed here three nights (two would have been plenty, but every third night is free)! The family dinners are delicious and a great way to interact with the other guests and volunteer staff. Several nights of the week have activities after dinner, and I would highly encourage a stayover on a Wednesday if you can swing it. Wednesday is open...

I stayed 3 days at this hotel that can only be described as sheer perfection...it's directly on the lake, SUPER budget friendly (from dorm rooms to private rooms), outrageously delicious food, diving lessons, and right at the Hub for shopping on the lake for one day excursions. This fantastic place is on my 'must stay' list for Guatemala...

If you are looking for a hostel on the water with a great view and relaxed atmosphere then this is your spot. I stayed 2 nights to do some diving but could of stayed longer (3rd night is free!). I stayed in Santa Cruz area for a week and my rental place was a few minutes walk from La Iguana. I used to come for dinner every night at La Iguana. On the idyllic north shore of Lake Atitlán, Santa Cruz has long been a favorite destination for international tourists, back-packers and locals who want to get away from it all.And for more than fifteen years, La Iguana Perdida has been one of the main reasons for the popularity of this unique oasis, thanks to owners Deedle and Dave. Seven bathrooms are scattered around the spacious property, all with hot water. The climate is perfect for lounging in a hammock or comfortable chair all day. La Iguana Perdida is one of the best places to enjoy the beauty and serenity that Lake Atitlan has to offer.A Yoga session on the deck is a good way to start the day. Next you can go kayaking, or follow shaded trails and paths with picnic spots for along the way. After a day of hiking or kayaking, treat yourself to a wood-fired sauna or a massage. Water Sports, ScubaATI Divers, based at Iguana and with an office in Panajachel, has many options for scuba diving and snorkeling. ATI Divers operates a number of PADI scuba diving courses include certification in high altitude diving as well as other courses for professionals. Lake Atilán is one of the few places on the planet where you can swim amongst huge underwater volcanic formations and petrified trees, and actually feel hot volcanic mud on the lake bottom. Fish, crabs and other marine life add to the color. World Famous BBQ The restaurant offers inexpensive breakfast and lunch. Dinner is a delicious three-course meal with an option for vegetarians. Meat-eaters: don’t miss Saturday night’s all-you-can-eat barbecue, topped off with chocolate brownies.
