Not all hostels or hotels can do what Iguana Perdida does with the perfect mix of no internet (do have computers available for public use that have internet) and family meals that creat a very social and pleasant vibe. The mixture of hotel and hostel accommodations at a range of prices also increases the age variety which made our stay...

The vibe, recommendations, family style dinners, staff and owners are fantastic at this place. Resulting in a wonderful stay. The shared space is great with balcony, dining room, games area and couch / tv / chi space. Right on the lakes edge in San Francisco. A cute little town further up the hill. Dorm rooms are totally adequate with warm...

The family style dinners are great for meeting people here. It's not a unique concept around the lake but it's done really well at La Iguana - good food and a reasonable price for the experience you get out of it. There's a decent mix of ages here too which makes things more interesting for those of us who have...

We had two great dinners there and I did yoga there twice. We did not stay there in the hotel part. All of the employees were very nice and helpful. The location is right on the lake and I really enjoyed doing yoga down there in the morning with the birds.

When I came to Lago Atitlan I decided to stay in Santa Cruz by a friends recommendation. Usually the majority goes to San Marcos or San Pedro..thank God we went to Santa Cruz! First of all the hostel is located right in front of the water with the two volcanos on the other side of the lake. Everyday we were...

A great and relaxed environment. Dinner was very good and they have a lot of options to do anything you can think of or nothing at all. The Saturday farmers market is great and they welcome you like you are at home.

La Iguana Perdida has been my go-to place in western Guatemala. Located on the beautiful and awe inspiring lake Atitlan and only reachable by boat (lancha). You should plan on getting to the Iguana with consideration for the lancha schedule. I try to get to the dock in Panajachel by 4:00 to avoid the late boats which are often crowded...

My buddy and I rented a nice room on second floor with a large balcony and hammock. It was clean, bright and had a great view. The staff were happy and helpful and seemed to enjoy being there as much as I. My old college buddy and I are now 70ish but we were very much accepted by the many...

The night we arrived was open mic night which seemed to be a lot of fun however when we decided to get into bed our bed sheets were dirty with the reminents of the previous guests bodily fluids and it was actually appalling.  Having been a Housekeeper for 6 years I've cleaned plenty of dirty rooms however I never thought...

Taking into considering your claims of many years in hospitality, I am sure you can understand that not everything is possible to be perfect always. We accept and apologise for the initial problems upon your arrival in which we addressed promptly and tried very hard to again follow up on and resolve. Generally anyone from a hospitality background sympathises on...

On the idyllic north shore of Lake Atitlán, Santa Cruz has long been a favorite destination for international tourists, back-packers and locals who want to get away from it all.And for more than fifteen years, La Iguana Perdida has been one of the main reasons for the popularity of this unique oasis, thanks to owners Deedle and Dave. Seven bathrooms are scattered around the spacious property, all with hot water. The climate is perfect for lounging in a hammock or comfortable chair all day. La Iguana Perdida is one of the best places to enjoy the beauty and serenity that Lake Atitlan has to offer.A Yoga session on the deck is a good way to start the day. Next you can go kayaking, or follow shaded trails and paths with picnic spots for along the way. After a day of hiking or kayaking, treat yourself to a wood-fired sauna or a massage. Water Sports, ScubaATI Divers, based at Iguana and with an office in Panajachel, has many options for scuba diving and snorkeling. ATI Divers operates a number of PADI scuba diving courses include certification in high altitude diving as well as other courses for professionals. Lake Atilán is one of the few places on the planet where you can swim amongst huge underwater volcanic formations and petrified trees, and actually feel hot volcanic mud on the lake bottom. Fish, crabs and other marine life add to the color. World Famous BBQ The restaurant offers inexpensive breakfast and lunch. Dinner is a delicious three-course meal with an option for vegetarians. Meat-eaters: don’t miss Saturday night’s all-you-can-eat barbecue, topped off with chocolate brownies.
