We spent our Christmas vacation at Shelter of the storm. The pool house/bar called "rancho" was all decorated with Christmas tree and lights. On our arrival Daryl made us welcome with his specialty Margaritas and they are the best. Also on arrival the fridges are stocked with the first necessities, so you can make coffee/ tea and meals the first... More

Words can't express how wonderful our stay at Daryl and Donna's place. Not only is it the most beautiful, peaceful, relaxing environment, but everything one could want or need is ready for you. Ultimate hosts with a location remote from crowded tourist areas, but close to beaches and restaurants you can enjoy. This is one place you will find hard... More

My wife and I spent the better part of a week at Shelter from the Storm in July. We wanted to find a spot slightly off the beaten path, but located close to several beaches to explore, and this spot fit the bill. It is up the mountain off the main highway so that traffic noise is minimal and up... More

I had the privilege to stay at SFTS twice. The first time was in a bit of a family emergency the second was as we were passing through Dominical. Both times it was first class. They have awesome accommodations and fun in the Rancho with Daryl and Donna and the other guests. Donna even set us up at a great... More

Shelter from the Storm was everything we hoped for and more! We loved the location, the Monkey House, Donny & Daryl and all that the area had to offer. I wandered into the fabulous Shelter from the Storm because I was curious as to what is at the end of the beautifully lit driveway in the middle of nowhere jungle where jasmine and ylang ylang beckon a welcome. WOW I was shocked in awe that folks could create such exquisite surroundings in the middle of a jungle. It is... More

Shelter From the Storm was on our bucket list for a while, and we finally got a chance to stay there on a last minute trip. Daryl and Donna have really put a lot of love in supplying the villas with everything you could possible need ---from good CD's to Costa Rican snacks and coffee. They apologized for not having... I stayed at Shelter from the Storm with my partner in November this year. We arrived as travellers with no connections in Costa Rica, and left with two new friends. Donna and Daryl were the most wonderful, friendly, funny hosts. We can't wait to visit again, and to take our other friends along with us. If you're looking for somewhere... More
