We came to Shelter from the Storm for our honeymoon, and we had the absolute best time, from the breathtaking ocean views, to the monkey's playing in the trees, Shelter from the Storm gave us all the amenities of home, with the rich and beautiful culture of Costa Rica. Donna & Daryl took great care of us, helping us every...

My husband and I have traveled to Costa Rica including Dominical 5 times. This was our first time staying at Shelter from the Storm in the Baja Los Rocas unit. The property is beautiful, clean, private, and peaceful. Our cabina is the smallest of the four available, if your thinking about cooking, I'd rent one of the other units as...

We made the day drive from Monteverde to Dominical - I am glad that we waited until the new road had been built to visit Costa Rica, it made it an easy trip once we hit pavement. We ate lunch in Domincal and went to find SFTS and really didn't know what to expect, not having been to this part...

My husband and I stayed at SFTS for 4 nights and thoroughly enjoyed it. Donna & Daryl were very friendly and always willing to help arranging activities and dinners. Yes, they do have quite a bit of "friendly reminders" and guidelines to follow while there, but its all in the interest of keeping the place as nice as it is,...

Shelter from the Storm was the perfect combination of comfort and beauty. Our hosts, Donna and Daryl, made us feel welcomed from the moment we stepped out of our car. We had made last minute reservations...they not only accommodated us, but upgraded us to the wonderful Villa La Cuesta, which had a full kitchen and a spacious deck with spectacular...

We stayed at Shelter From the Storm in February of this year and absolutely LOVED it! The Monkey House offered everything we desired - privacy, comfort, and a sublime view over the rainforest from our own private deck. Donna and Darryl were amazing hosts, and in our minds, went above and beyond what anyone would expect from owners on the premise....

Darryl and Donna are fantastic! You can tell by the name of their place that they are cool people. They were completely helpful with anything we asked and helped us arrange dinner plans at a fabulous restaurant called the Chef's Table. At the same time, we definitely felt like we were the only people at the place, even though we...

We stayed three nights in Baja Las Rocas in April, 2010. The room itself was very nicely appointed with a patio and a wonderful ocean view. This room seemed to be the "lowest end" one in the place (if there is such a thing), being located on the bottom floor of a building with a long set of stairs to...

My family and I have traveled extensively throughout the Americas and Europe and have had the privilege of staying in numerous first-class accommodations, but never have we experienced ambiance and hospitality to rival Shelter From the Storm. Our villa was large, comfortable, exceptionally well-decorated and offered a view of the ocean that can only be described as breathtakaing. We saw...

We stayed in the Baja las Rocas room at SFTS at the beginning of March. Based on all of the rave reviews it received on Trip Advisor we knew it would be an incredible stay but you can't really understand the beauty of this place until you're actually there. We arrived around 8pm and immediately Daryl and Donna were there...
