My wife and I stayed at Rio Magnolia for 4 nights in July. We arrived at Jaco via water taxi and were immediately greeted by one of Rio Magnolia's friendly staff. He chatted with us all the way to our hotel and pointed out some of the amazing sites along the way. We arrived at the gorgeous Rio Magnolia to...

Rio Magnolia is magnificent! We were lucky to stay there in February and we absolutely spoiled with attention, fabulous meals, amazing birding, and wonderful hospitality. I would definitely go back again anytime. John and Maureen were fantastic hosts. Bat falcons, king vultures and lots and lots of tanagers!

We stayed at Rio Magnolia for 2 nights in February. We wish we had time to stay longer and definitely plan to return. Everything from the warm welcome, delicious food, accommodations (beautiful and comfortable rooms), coffee grown on site, trails to walk and serene pool with outstanding views all made the stay here the most relaxing and rejuvenating part of...

I have been visiting Costa Rica every year since 1990 and Rio Magnolia Lodge is up there with the best, possibly the best. The place is well-appointed, very comfortable with excellent rooms, food, owners, staff, views, and interesting guests. It is a really restful place and will be placed at the top of our list of places for a return...

The Rio Magnolia was definitely a high point of our vacation. The drive in was a little scary as it had just began to rain so the roads were a little slippery. Four wheel drive is a must, but it is a beautiful trip! We were immediately greeting with a fresh fruit drink and shown to our amazing room, El...

My husband and I spent the first couple of nights of our honeymoon here and it was the perfect start! John and Maureen were the most gracious and welcoming hosts. We got there a little late in the evening (and it gets dark very quickly for those of you traveling to Costa Rico for the first time) and they sent...

We were lucky enough to have stayed at Rio Magnolia for 5 nights in June. Our stay was perfect from start to end. Very private and the perfect seclusion away from our everyday lives. The owners as well as the staff were all fantastic. We enjoyed getting to know each one of them. All meals were excellent. I cannot say...

I went to Rio Magnolia with my family for Christmas 2013. Although I was apprehensive about spending Christmas with people I didn't know, John and Maureen and their staff were very welcoming and kind. The hotel and facilities were well designed to give everyone privacy and comfort, but still had a personal and even intimate feel. The food was excellent,...

We had a wonderful stay in Rio Magnolia. The place is simply beautiful, surraunded by the rainforest. We were visited by plenty of tropical birds, they just loved a tree in front of our balcony. The owners of the place are wonderful people, welcoming, intelligent, and caring. We loved the dogs, they accompanied us for our walks in the forest....
