Sedona was our base-camp to speak. The Club Wyndham was a great stay. We had a large master with jetted tub, shower plus a large bedroom that had two queen beds. That was right next to a shower. I used their stackable washer/dryer combo and I cooked breakfast one or two days. The teens were satisfied with their internet- they got bumped out now and then and had to log back in. Worked for tik tok, snapchat, instagram, youtube. There is a grocery store right up the road, within walking distance if you don't have a LOT to haul back. February was rather cool. Around 60 for a high the days we were there. The pool is advertised as heated, but they had repaired it- so it wasn't open for us. The whirlpool was by reservation only- you got 30 minutes. That was nice. Day 1 we drove to the Grand Canyon by car. More snow as we went north. The road to Flagstaff is a windy, twisty one up through the mountains. I didn't expect that. With the National Park pass we got there on day 1 (annual) that served as our entry to the area NPS hiking trails. We also ended up with a quick stop at Montezuma's castle on the way back to Phoenix. The teens were amazed at the blue McDonalds. My daughter was interested in hiking & fun selfies. My son not so much. Our highlight of Sedona was to rent e-bikes for a tour of the town! That was great! It took us through an area of the city I hadn't known was there. Many shops had crystals, beads, jewelry, reiki, massage, pottery and other earthy stuff. I shopped around with the girl, but we didn't buy anything. (Not her style.) Two full days here were enough for my teens. If i had more planning time i would have looked into booking more outdoorsy activities within a drive from Sedona. Rafting, kayaking, etc... This trip checked off of our bucket list the grand canyon & the experience of mountains. The scenery was breathtaking. The Wyndham staff were helpful and friendly. We even saw javelinas when checking in, right off of the front desk patio.…
We stayed two weeks in a one bedroom suite. The Good: Very nice resort overall 4 out of 5 stars -- hard to believe its a Wyndham as we have had only a few pleasant experiences with them over the past 25 years. The bed is very comfortable as is the couch (no room for chairs). Roomy overall for a suite with good storage. The small oven and garbage disposer were pleasant surprises. Parking was convenient. Front desk staff were especially accommodating. Six free movie channels! Great views. Close to the pool. Bathrooom sink is separated from the stool and shower. Walking distance from great hiking as well as fine shopping, gas, farmers market, and grocery -- what an unusual combination of urban and rural. All furnishings were clean and new. In-room washer and dryer included. The Bad: The housekeeping staff needs to adopt an awareness that guest quiet comes before their interactions. The walls are very thin and you depend on the curtesy of your neighbors. Lighting in every room and in every lamp/outlet is dingy.…
Appreciated that the pool and hot tub was still heated, even in January. The staff were always sanitizing the pool chairs, etc. they were accommodating and quick in responding to needs (getting an extra blanket for the unit). Check-in was quick and easy.
Just got back from a two night stay in a one bedroom. The room itself was ok, but definitely was permeated by smoke (I left my cloth mask out overnight and when I went to put it on the next morning i could almost not wear it, it smelled so bad). Obviously I should have asked, but since most places that we stay in the US are non smoking, I totally forgot. However, given all the interaction I had with them, it would seem that they could have asked me. They did ask if I had a ground floor or second floor preference, and accomodated that which we appreciated. My main issue was the lack of coordination among the staff. I booked online which would have been a perfect opportunity to ask questions if they had some. But 8 days before arrival I got a phone call- from a 4 digit number which was odd-outlining check in procedures and asking questions about arrival, room preference etc. This guy said that I could not arrive on premises until they called or texted me. Fast forward a few days, and I got a text saying they needed more information from me to "update" my reservation. Some of this I had already provided, and if they needed more why didn't they ask either when I made the reservation or when they called ? One of the questions was "arrival time", which of course was up to them, not me, given what they told me in the phone call. Fast forward to arrival day. We were about 30- 40 mins out and I still had not heard from them as to whether I could arrive or not. So I called, told them I was 30-40 mins out and they checked and said the unit would be ready by then. 10 mins later I got a text saying the unit was ready and asking for my arrival time. Sigh. And when we did get there, the arrival/check in process was not what had been outlined in the phone call. Once there I asked about a jacuzzi reservation since it was one party at a time. They sent me a link which did not work. Then told me to cut and paste the link which gave me the same error. So they texted me that they had made me a reservation for the following night. When we showed up for that, there was another group there, who said they also had a reservation - same day/same time. We went in and confirmed with the front desk that we were in fact booked, and they told us to just tell the other group to leave. We asked if they could come out and do this but they did not. The other group- as it turned out- ALSO had a text confirming the same date and time. So they double booked us and left us to handle it. Awkward and uncomfortable. So I shouldn't I guess have been surprised when I texted to ask about express checkout, and told them we were leaving early the next morning, and was told to just call 0. Of course, I got a text 4 hours later reminding me to leave by 10 and to text when I had left. So I had to ask again- which is it? Call 0 or text when I leave? As it turns out, either works. all that said, we did like the location as we could walk to the Safeway, several restaurants, and some hikes, and were able to avoid driving through town which was an absolute zoo.…
Our balcony had a wonderful view. Because the room has a full kitchen, we were able to cook several of our meals in the room and then we ate on the balcony, which was so relaxing. It overlooked the parking lot but beyond that were the red rock cliffs so we just didn't look down. The room was large and well laid out. I especially appreciated the bathroom layout because it enabled two of us to get ready at the same time. The person who checks you in and out by text seemed kind of grumpy but the lobby staff and the concierge were very nice. Everything was clean and I felt safe. We prefer top floor but there is no elevator so be willing to lug everything up the stairs.
