Making the decision to stay here was a no brainer. Right on the main road and walking distance to everything in town. Parking on the back. Our room was on the second floor overlooking the street with a beautiful view. The room was newly renovated and well appointed and very comply. Loved it! Coffee and tea provided in the room. We had a morning with snow and it turned rather chilly for the day, but no problem cause we were steps away from many restaurants. Stay here and you won’t be disappointed!
Rented a king room with a sofa bed that was a chair that folded or to be a very smallish single bed that one could not even roll over without failing out! Had a very disappointing teen. The room is nicely appointed and smartly laid out otherwise. Good storage and hooks. Fridge and microwave was handy. Bathroom was challenging, modern shower looked nice but water on floor due to gaps in doors. Separated sink area that had no door, which caused noise disturbance when sleeping. Nice balcony with mtn views and sunrise. Great to be in town and walk everywhere due to horrendous traffic. Parking can be a challenge too. Friendly staff with coffee in lobby and water with granola bars, a nice touch. Beers and soda for sale but out of PHX ??!! Owner owns both? Not a full service hotel, but motel with history. …
Did not have the room when we arrived. Didn’t stay there but they still charged us. I don’t understand how this hotel does business. They did not apologize but simply took my money. I will never recommend anyone to stay at this hotel. That’s dishonesty.
My wife and I arrived tired and without a reservation, as a pro photographer I travel heavy and I am old. My wife went and asked if they had anything on the ground floor; they didn’t but Tyler a manager, owner or something showed up and packed all our stuff to the second floor, their only room left, Tyler was very helpful during our whole stay. For being downtown it was reasonable priced. The view from the room is amazing. Tyler hauled our big stuff down stairs at checkout. Looking forward to my next stay here in this amazing landscape. Maybe Tyler can arrange another heavy snow fall for this photographer.
This place doesn't look bad from the outside because it was recently renovated...that's where it ends though; it was all downhill after that. The place seemed deserted but the desk clerk claimed they were almost sold out...funny, standard canned reply. The one staff guy looked about 19 and mean't well but wearing a t-shirt and not even knowing what Matterhorn means is not presenting a professional image. I've met more knowledgeable and professional staff at hostels in Europe for 25 euros a night. I asked to see a room and while the king bed was nice, the decor is extremely tacky and cartoonish. The view is blocked by the main Street tourist shops and after all the renovation the guy was touting there was not even a bathtub in the room. He quoted a price of about $200 including tax on a very slow Wednesday night with NO BREAKFAST! He claimed he didn't know who owned the hotel but the owner was somewhere in Phoenix. I left and told him I'd think about it. He replied that the office closes at 10pm(very unprofessional for the prices charged). Note to owners: If you can't take pride in your business like a professional signs his/her name to their work what is your real intent? I think it is to do wrong and cheat people. A real professional business owner doesn't hide identity. This is a disturbing trend with hotel ownership resulting in massive price fixing/overcharging guests and refusing to correct issues and provide value to customers(like charging top hotel rates for motel quality and staff that wouldn't get hired at Burger King). Since I'm not a chump, I said a nice goodbye and looked elsewhere-$200 saved for nice restaurants and tours. Not recommended.…
