You don't have to be a bird watcher to love being here. It's a beautiful retreat from the world. The cabins do not have TV, phones or internet, you just go to the lodge for that. It's a wildlife sanctuary as well as a birder's heaven. The scenery is breathtaking, and there are wonderful hiking trails in the area. Our...

Birds, mountains, peace and quiet, no cell service, no TV, ---- it is fabulous! There is WiFi at the office for those of you who can't quite sever yourselves from technology. The accommodations are delightful. Plain and simple, but everything you need. A small stream borders the property where you can watch birds drinking and foraging for meals. Bird feeders...

It is a unique refuge for birds and people, tucked away in a wooded canyon with a stream, a place to draw. Quiet, no cell phone service, which I loved. One can get wifi on the main porch. A birder's paradise or a refuge for one seeking solitude or a romantic getaway. They have a variety of accommodations. It is...

Cave Creek Ranch is owned by a man that is passionate about nature and conservation. The cabin we rented was absolutely wonderful with all the necessary amenities, though very basic and simple. We rented the Stone Cabin, which actually is made of stone. It has a small kitchen with oven and microwave. They stock the cupboards with dishes and mugs/glasses,...

This is "thee " place to stay in the area. Wi-fi at the office, no phone, tv, etc. Cabins equipped with stove, frig, micro as there is no where else you can count on so bring your food! Hike the area or sit around the office watching wildlife & birds. A lovely respite.

A birding trip report which we used to plan our itinerary raved about this place so we selected it for our stay in the Chiricahuas. The Ranch is located in a very beautiful area Laura was friendly and helpful on our arrival. We stayed in Woodland Cottage which was spacious and well appointed inside as well as private. Also very...

This was my fifth visit here and I was by myself this trip and only for a couple of days and it was as great as always. The wildlife is everywhere and it was very peaceful, cool and I hardly saw a soul. It's amazing how quiet it is but then again the second night a huge thunderstorm came through...

We decided to stay here based on the reviews and one needs reservation for ideal times well in advance. Was wishing food was available but it was easy to get nearby at the Portal Cafe and we did have some with us to use in the Woodland cabin. Since we had a short time and enjoy birds but not a...

You don't go for the rooms although they are adequate. There is wifi if you hike over to the office and sit on their patio bench. But you go to see a bazillion birds and ones you can't find in other places. They had blue-throated hummingbirds and Scott's orioles, but the Elegant Trogon hadn't arrived yet when we visited the...

The lodge and property are well set up for birders with numerous feeders, water drips and wide variety of planting seeds/native habitat. Cabins are spacious with adequate bath and kitchen facilities. Gas fireplace is nice on cold spring evenings. My one complaint is that Wifi is limited to porch and office. Since there is no cell reception within forty miles,...

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Cave Creek Ranch is a peaceful retreat from the modern world. Surrounded by spectacular scenery, the simple rooms and cottages are clean and neat. While there is Wi-Fi on our front porch, the rooms are free of modern noise and distractions -- no cell service, TVs, or radios. We do have a small library in every room, and more books on natural history available to borrow from the office. Guests tell us they haven't slept so well in years; we think it's because they can relax and get away from the news. Cell service is available a mile away in downtown Portal. ... more   less
