Took my girlfriend up for the weekend. We both just love this area, especially for hiking. This time we tried the Grey Hackle. We had one of the smaller units, but it still had all the necessities including a kitchen. We had a bonfire at night and met some other cool guests. We would stay here again. Manger lady was... My boyfriend, daughter and I stayed at the Grey Hackle Lodge the day after Thanksgiving 2015. It was the absolute worst travel experience of my life. Being November, we were prepared for it to be cold but what we weren't prepared for was there being absolutely no heat in the cabin, and no hot water. We arrived around 1 or... More

What a wonderful 3 days at Grey Hackle! Since giving up the real camping/RV experiences, we yearn for that feeling that you only can get ...in the woods, a campfire, pine trees....we found it at Grey Hackle. First....Ingrid....the manager...actually she is more like your sister or aunt, who is hosting you. Fun, personable, efficient, wicked sense of humor...and more. When... More

Beautiful location in the Pines. The cabin was clean, the mattresses on the bed and pull out couch were clean and very comfortable. The cabin was cute and cozy. The full kitchen had a 3 burner stove, microwave, coffee pot, plates, cups, sliver ware, pots and pans for cooking and eating. You have everything you could possible need for a... More

This place reminded me of a secret to traveling cheap in Japan: car camping, with rustic cabins for $30. Similar concept; park your car next to the cabin, bring everything you would typically take on a camping trip, and they'll provide four walls and a roof. A big difference is that this feels more authentic; the Japanese style tends to... More

I’m reading your review and, although I’m very sympathetic and apologetic for not meeting your expectations, I have never heard of us being compared to car camping or traveling cheap in Japan and I really have no idea of the Japan pricing model. We are always very clear in our pricing disclosure prior to your confirming a reservation and yes,... More

I rented Cabin #3 on Oct. 24, 2015. It was clean and very cozy. I spent the weekend with my sister so we had to use the pull out bed (sofa sleeper) for the night. I slept on the sofa sleeper. Initially, I was worried about the quality of the mattress, (since it's primarily used as a couch) but I... More

While we've stayed here numerous times, and enjoyed ourselves every time, there is now something different, something unappealing about the Grey Hackle to me. None of the changes we were told would be taking place since our last stay had taken place; the charcoal grills are still not adjustable, the mattress was almost a V shape it was so worn... More

Came here for a yearly outing with some friends. Decently close to some lakes so we picked this location. We typically look for a few things in these trips: seclusion, quiet, location, and facilities. The cabins are nestled very tightly so don't expect seclusion. Every night people stayed out at the fire well past the "quiet" time (10pm) so it... More

My husband and I travel all over the US staying in little towns. This was among if not our best experience to date!! Breathtaking location, cute cabin, and wonderful staff. Our travels won't likely bring us back here, but we would surely stay again if we ever do.

Very nice little place in the woods. I stopped by on a whim (I'd been travelling all day). They had to scramble a bit but were able to accommodate me. I took a walk along the creak nearby and had dinner at an excellent place about 2 minutes walk away. I was tempted to give five stars, but I didn't... More

“There are a variety of cabins to accomodate groups of all sizes. We had a family of 4 (and a med size dog) in a smaller cabin, there was a family of 10 people across the way in a larger cabin too, so ask Mgmt what'd work best for you. They'll tell you honestly and go the extra mile to make you happy.”
