The room was sufficiently well furnished with bed table and two chairs. There is a working fridge, too. Surprisingly enough, the shower served hot water, which is not guaranteed in South Pacific hotels. Air conditioning is very powerful.

Once again walls were paper-thin and you could hear discussions in the next room.

The place is a bit out of town, and walking distance to downtown takes around 15 minutes. Taxi becomes handy and they are quite cheap.

Their continental breakfast is of good value with staple toast and coffee topped up with eggs, fruits and a fresh fruit smoothie.

There was a problem in checking in at 5 am. There was supposed to be a guard on duty to let me into my room, but nooooo. There was no one at the gate but the gate was left open. I waited at empty reception for an half an hour when a lady rushed downstairs from a room - perhaps she was enjoying a well earned rest.

The good: central location, can walk down to marina and around town very easily. Has plenty of shops and restaurants within walking distance.
Room was clean and had a tv, fan, good pressure shower. Pool was alright and did the job.
Security guard was very friendly and was great to have a chat with late at night.

The bad: Toilets needed a good service and better maintenance.

Overall the place is fair for what you pay but if don’t expect it to be a place to laze around. A good base to see Apia if you are in a budget.

Having traveled to Apia frequently for work over the past 8 years or so, I've stayed in many hotels there with varying experiences. I stayed at Alaimoana the first time shortly after it was constructed, and since then have never stayed anywhere else in Apia. It's a small establishment run by a local family with a commitment to providing a great experience for their guests. The rooms are spacious, clean, and well-equipped and the staff is always gracious and helpful. The location is ultra-convenient - close to town without being in the middle of the action - and the food at the small café is outstanding! It's the kind of place you almost hesitate to review because you don't want it getting TOO popular! Mahalo to Mara and everybody for a consistently great experience.

This hotel is memorable for all the wrong reasons.
On arrival reception did not acknowledge us, no samoan smile, we were obviously a bother to them .This attitude was reflected by all staff but the security guard did try to be pleasant.
The whole property was scruffy and had an unkempt look about it.The pool was dirty, green and uninviting. The breakfast tablecloths were stained and consisted of a jar of weetbix we had to find ourselves and a plate that arrived ( no choice ) with two fried eggs small slice pawpaw and single slice toast no toppings.
Room was minimalistic, no soap shampoo. The bed & shower were ok but felt grubby.Toilet seat secure one side only and needed a clean under seat.
We have run Motels for 30 years so have a good understanding of what is expected & accepted in the hospitality industry. This establishment failed miserably.
Plenty of other places to stay in Apia at similar prices that are far better value.

For our final night in Samoa after a few hit and miss properties I opted to go with what I knew and return to Le alaimoana. Rates are some of the best you will find for this quality of room! Rooms are clean, equipped with old clean beds and facilities even microwaves which is handy with kids. Bathrooms clean and fan/air con facilities were awesome. Free breakfast was great even though we opted for a big cooked one due to the long day we had ahead of us. Staff were wonderful. Even remembered us from our previous stay a year and a half ago! Great choice for business travelers as its close to town, free parking, good wireless facilities and great prices. Only slight downer is the Mosquitos are much worse here than some hotels so may need some sort of outdoor deterrent system due to the lush surroundings they seem to attract the Mosquitos further more.

Talofa Paulune N, Thanks for taking the time to write some feedback on us. Its always great to hear from happy guests. We hope your trip back home was comfortable, and that you are back to your normal routines - relieved and relaxed after Samoa. Thanks for the feedback about the mosquitoes, we will try to do more about it. We do spray bi monthly to get rid of larvae on any water about and in foliage by day, plus havingmosquitoe coils and aeroguard spray available in the dining and poolside areas. I wished there was a sure fix to get rid of the critters off our property! I hope you return to Samoa again in the not too distant future and stay with us! Alofa, Mara

Stayed there for five days and loved it. Clean, modern and top stars for showers and beds. It has a pool which we swam in, warmest water. Meals are beautiful and it is a small boutique hotel, cosy, not like the bigger Aggie Greys. But its smallness is actually what I enjoyed. Easier to meet people at the dining centre which is outside next to the pool. Very tropical and intimate setting. Possibly the only hotel we could find with wireless internet connection. That was appreciated all the more after the hassles trying to find fast and reliable internet access outside of the hotel at Apia township. That was a drama and a half sometimes.

The only thing that I would say is that sometimes when people were trying to call the hotel, no one answered. And sometimes the language barrier was a problem with some of the staff but the owner was usually nearby and could sort that out. No dinner was served on Sunday but that's not surprising in Samoa. Overall friendly and ideal if you're on business or need to stay connected and want something more cosy and personable service.

Le Alaimoana is a place, which is not only professionally operated but also shows the owner's love and passion for this place. The owner's - Mara - experience and professional background definately show in the daily operation of this place. Mara lives on site and overseas the staff members who are very observant, helpful, friendly, and and make the guests feel comfortable and welcome. Clean, spacious, new, comfortable rooms make it a delight to stay there. The rooms are thoughtfully designed for the convenience of the guests and are cleaned on a daily base. They are also tastefully decorated with Samoan artefacts.

After having stayed in places with small, unclean, dingy rooms without much convenience or comfort or details that made it cosy, Le Alaimoana was a treat. ( I am not referring to fales here, which I found clean, comfortable, and pleasant to stay in, but am comapring with other hotel rooms). This place lives up to its expectations raised on its website.

The swimmingpool is a great asset since Apia doesn't offer any beaches apart from the marine reserve Palolo Deep, which is only a 10 minutes walk away. Ok, the location is away from town and the waterfront (like most other places). However, this hotel offers rides into town in the morning. You can even get a fresh salad - something which I found hard to get - at Le Alaimoana. The place seems safe to me for single travellers and others.

I have stayed in every major hotel in Apia over the past several years and on the South Coast as well. They all have their good and bad points but I have found a real winner! My taxi driver took me to Le Alaimoana when I got fed up waiting in line at Insel Fehrman to be served. I had never heard of this place, only opened in March 2007 but was game to try something new.
Le Alaimoana is just around the corner and 5mins down the road from Aggie Grey's Hotel. It looks like a very modern Australian concrete block motel unit - and that's pretty much what it is. BUT!!! Where else can you get a bedroom with excellent airconditioning (bedside tables, huge closet PLUS coathangers!) a modern shower room with steam vent, oh joy!, and a second room complete with TV, phone, table and chairs, a full oven, fridge AND freezer, microwave, toaster and jug plus all the dishes and pans you could need. We travel a lot and it's really nice to go to the market or shops and buy salad things or just make a meal in your room on a rainy day. It was super clean, well designed and better yet it is designed to allow you both privacy and the chance to meet others. The pool area and garden are adjacent to the bar and lunch and dinner are available in a sheltered courtyard - the food really wins points. We are always amazed that we can rarely find simple Samoan food like chopsuey on the menu, but this place offered it. The menu was different from most and the salads were excellent. Things like white linen and proper table settings at night created a pleasant dining atmosphere and the tables are grouped together if you are alone but want to chat. A large flat screen tv can be brought out at night and we sat around with a few beers, chatting together, watching the tv. Mara Hunter is the owner/operator and can't do enough for you. She is what Samoa needs - an o/o who is a perfect hostess and makes it her business to ensure that you are happy. PS the price was the best in town and includes breakfast, transport to and from the airport and FREE WIRELESS INTERNET!!!

Rooms were nice with really comfy beds. Shaded outdoors & pool was great on a hot afternoon. However, the bar & staff didnt seem to mind having extremely drunk people making heaps of noise all night until well after midnight - just a few metres away from our room (we were on the ground floor). Not sure why its reccommended as a business hotel, considering that goes on on a weeknight. But if it wasnt for that, it would have been a very pleasant place to stay.

Talofa harlsshiz, We are not happy when our guests are not happy and I wished you had let me know when you were with us, and we could have fixed things then and there. Yes sometimes we have other guests who may make more noise than appreciated, and its always a fine balance managing the needs of all. But we take your point about noise from the Bar particularly after 10pm and we have put in policies to reduce the noise disrupting other guests by not selling alcohol after 9.30pm particularly on weekdays. I hope other positive aspects of your stay were appreciated, and that you would consider staying with us again in the future. Faafetai Mara
