The hotel is located at an easy drive from the El Calafate airport and the town, but at the same time it is quite isolated, at the heart of a large estate with a beautiful scenery, so it is ideal if you want to stay away from crowds and the noise.

The scenery on the Los Glaciares National Park can be enjoyed from all the beautiful rooms of the hotel, which are spacious, warm, nicely decorated, very clean and equipped with all the amenities you might need. Room service is run twice a day so the room is always clean and tidy.

The accommodation is on a full-board basis, the food here is excellent and there is plenty of it. The excellent wines are included and there is also a cellar where their sommellier walk you through the wines that are served at the restaurant and more labels that you might be interested in tasting or buying.

The service is efficient, kind and discreet, from booking to check-in, room and restaurant service, laundry and check-out.

The hotel offers a wide range of activities, some of them are included in the room rate, others are charged. The horse-riding is included and it is very recommended with this landscape. We also joined an excursion to the boardwalks around Perito Moreno which was really worth.

Do take your time to explore the estate, either on foot or borrowing the mountain bikes that the hotel provides you. In particular, the flamingo pond is very nice especially early in the morning - just ensure your boots are water-proof! Back from the hiking, you can enjoy the hotel sauna, a massage, or the heated outdoor (small) pool.

On our Patagonia trip we stayed two nights at the Eolo. This is one of the most remarkable and excellent locations we have stayed ever. The first stunning characteristic is the location: In a valley on a height between El Calafate and the glaciers with a free view to the lakes, steppe and mountains. What they show on the website is reality: a wonderfully architected hotel in the middle of "nowhere" with wide views. The silence of the place is second to none.

Secondly the interior is perfectly decorated. Our room had a wonderful view, but then there are several common rooms including the bar and the restaurant which have just views where you can sit for hours and watch. The rooms are spacious, luxurious (with extremely good taste, not the gold plated version...) and highly comfortable.

Thirdly the wonderfully personal and friendly service from the first greeting through the bar and restaurant, the sommelier, events and so on. They know your name, no questions for room numbers etc.; and every process seems perfectly prepared.

And lastly the high quality food at breakfast, lunch and dinner. And the "all inclusive concept" at this high quality (including e.g. excellent wines from the large wine cellar) gives you peace of mind (of course once you accepted the base price...).

The place to be when being in the Argentinian glacier region.

We thoroughly enjoyed our time at Eolo.

All the staff were extremely professional, warm and welcoming. They were easy to reach at all times, and were responsive for special requests. They always went out of their way to make the stay better.

The staff were extremely proactive as well-- we happened to be there in a day there was a solar eclipse. We had no idea, but the front desk staff informed us and gave us eclipse glasses. This was a very thoughtful touch.

The hotel and it's surrounding property was beautiful. We walked down to the lagoon to see the flamingos up close, did horseback riding in the back half of the property, did some bird watching from the living room with the provided binoculars (seeing Andean Condors over the mountain), and saw the Milky Way on a night with no moon. Certainly the point of being here is enjoying the scenic location.

The prepacked lunches that are provided are perfect for the glacier hike, if you plan to arrange that excursion.

We thought the hotel provided a very good value. As transfers to/from the airport, transfers to the road for excursions, horseback riding, three meals a day, wine tasting, and drinks were all included in the rate. It was nice to not stay at a property that felt like it nickeled and dimed for every consumable.

I read through some of the previous reviews on Trip advisor and I think that the hotel manager must also read them-- because I found every previous criticism to have been already resolved by the time we had our stay. I think that's emblematic of a desire by management to provide a high quality product.

The entire stay was relaxing and stress free, you got to wake up in a beautiful countryside and not worry about anything during your day.

Visiting El Calafate and the Glacier National Park is an amazing experience, and staying in the charming town of El Calafate is fun, but if you want something special you have to stay at EOLO, a unique and dramatically beautiful estancia property with a casually luxurious boutique lodge about 20 minutes outside town, and between town and the Perito Moreno glacier. I'm not really into using the word "Magical" but this is a magical place, and it embodies the wild spirit of Patagonia. Being a Relais & Chateaux property the food is an integral part of the experience, from fine dining (you have to try the lamb and goat dishes), to a casual lunch of fiambres and Malbec in the bar. The menu changes each day as the chef works to create specialty dishes with local and regional fares. The spa treatments are fantastic, and the concierge can arrange your glacier tours, from walking around Perito Moreno to a day cruise through the fjords of Lake Argentina. We highly recommend you book a private guide and driver, much more relaxing and flexible than going with a group. As for the rooms at EOLO, all are spacious and comfortable with large bathrooms, but we like the corner rooms best, tranquil sitting area and spectacular view of the Andes. Finally, the staff here is as good as it gets, welcoming, friendly, always professional.

Magnificent hotel with 17 rooms in the middle of thousands of hectares of steppes.

The bedroom is spacious as is the bathroom/shower. Large radiators heat the room and provide comfort despite the cold outside. The view is magnificent and we observe the daily passage of horses, oxen, hares and other birds.

Breakfast is served in the restaurant room with a view of the steppe and the lake.
The choice is vast and everyone will find something to satisfy them. I order just-cooked fried eggs every morning.

The dishes served in the restaurant are excellent.
Simplicity and taste are probably the key words of the chef. The dishes are beautiful and good and the combinations fine and subtle.
I had the pleasure of tasting excellent quality Argentinian beef with beautiful seasoning and perfect cooking.

The staff are friendly and attentive.

Visit the Perito Moreno glacier which is approximately 1 hour away. Walks or horseback rides around the hotel.

The wind gusts are impressive and it is essential to bring winter clothing at this time of year.

A big thank you to all the staff for their kindness, their dedication and my congratulations to the Chef and his brigade for the beautiful cuisine they offer their guests.

I am told that the name Eolo is derived from Aeolus, the Greek god of the wind, and I thoroughly understand why it is an apt name for this hotel. The wind here is an ever present current but so is the friendly professional service. Everyone works to make you feel like you are the only guest. Make no mistake that this is a magical experience — a first class ranch oasis in El Calafate area on 12,000 acres of pristine beauty formed by the receding glaciers. Every staff member is friendly, helpful and professional. The welcome from the Manager on down is extraordinary. The views in any direction are magnificent. The rooms are so comfortable (the beds, pillows and other details). The rooms also seem to be constantly cleaned when you step out. And if you are lucky enough to get a corner room, you have views in multiple directions. The dining is also first class with an array of choices and gastronomy without fault. Breakfast was easily the best we had in Argentina, with many great choices, and lunch and dinner were likewise delicious. No time required for your meal reservation, you just show up when you are hungry and have whatever drinks and wines you want. Horseback riding on trails overlooking the mountains, Argentina Lake and valley. 4x4 ride into the balconies overlooking all this beautiful landscape. Sure when you first see the price, it will get your attention, but then you consider that everything is included: your meals, your drinks, the airport/hotel transfers, the horseback ride, the 4x4 excursion. The only additional charge was for the massages and, incidentally, the massages are great and you should get one. It is an upscale experience for sure but in my view well worth the price. We were there the first day they reopened from the winter closure and only wish we could have had another day. Looking forward to a return

The grounds surrounding this property are absolutely stunning. Remote, but sgtill an easy 25-minute taxi ride into town if you feel like a bit of commercialism amongst all of the splendid nature. Food is delicious, drinks flow freely and the hotel is set up for vistas from all four sides. However, it could be a true stunner if a designer came in and gave it a very easy face lift. Replace the dining room furniture and stark white banquet style linens--all of it. Use the breakfast dishes in natural shades on cool pottery for dinner as well (why the weird old lady china for the evening meal?) Do away with the shabby chic, this could be in your grandmother's living room aesthetic. It's so easy to replace dark wood with blond wood, rustic wood, cool modern lighting etc. With a few tweaks here and there you'll have an absolutely gorgeous place. Which will be worthy of the prices being charged.

This place is simply paradise on earth. We stayed for three nights one couple in a regular room, whilst we had the corner suite. From the moment you arrive, you know you are somewhere special. It's not just the views from every window, there is just a calm, zen-like vibe throughout, where nothing at all is any trouble.

The food is sensational - every meal different and paired with some great wines. The service is indescribably good - with every staff member seeming to know your name. the activities (we did everything!) are fabulous, from horse riding to Zip lining, and from the personalised water bottles in the room to the baseball hats on departure - Eolo is breathtakingly magical.

Perfect. This has to be the best place we have ever stayed in throughout our extensive travels in South America. It is expensive however, it is worth every penny. You will need to book a year in advance but will not be disappointed. Its remoteness is good for the soul.

This hotel is like none other that I have stayed at. It was incredibly beautiful and felt more like staying at home than a true hotel. The staff were incredibly friendly and helpful. The food was delicious and truly exquisite with exception of the scrambled eggs. Do not order scrambled eggs while there - they were not properly cooked and very runny. Additionally, the service while excellent was slow and we waited a lengthy amount of time for every meal.

The views and excursions were excellent as well as bucket list worthy including hiking on a glacier.

The negatives as mentioned by a previous reviewer revolve around the need for the renovation of the rooms. The carpets, sheets, bedding, and drapes were stained with moth holes. All of the furniture including the chipped mismatched plates were very shabby chic and very dusty. Furthermore the shower current wire pulled out of the wall on our last day and could have significantly maimed someone. When speaking with the staff, this apparently is not an issue. But imagine a 4 inch screw flying at you when pulling back the shower curtain.

Not an easy question. I think we tipped Something around $50 per day at check out. Some Ecco lodges have a gratuities line on the credit card receipt, but I am thinking we had to charge the gratuity separately. I do believe in pooling the tip as everyone there was quite wonderful.

Well it all depends on what you are planning to do and the weather, but I would say yes, bring them. It can be very windy and hills are often covered in shale etc so the poles help with balance and gaiters will help if it's muddy
