Los Ponchos Hotel garners high marks for its outstanding service, with staff members receiving accolades for their exceptional care and personalized attention. The cleanliness of the hotel is another point of praise, with travelers noting spotless rooms that boast impressive views.
Although the Mini Cabin rooms have been described as somewhat small and dated, the overall value is appreciated, particularly given the hotel's prime location near Lake Argentino. The cozy and inviting atmosphere, complete with local decor and comfortable furnishings, along with top-notch amenities, including delicious food and lakeview rooms, make Los Ponchos Hotel a preferred choice among visitors.

Happy to join the many 5 stars review for Los Ponchos Boutique Hotel. My husband and I stayed here for a couple of nights in late January/early February and enjoyed our visit very much. Los Ponchos was a perfect fit for us. We had a rental car and preferred a quieter location; close to downtown, but away from all the hustle and bustle. The location was great, in a quiet neighborhood overlooking Lake Argentino, only a 5 minute drive from the town center. One of Calafate’s best restaurants, Rustico Asador y Parilla, is located a 2 minute drive/10 minute walk from the hotel. We stayed in a Habitación Galería (Gallery Room), a spacious and exceptionally clean accommodation spanning two floors with views over the lake. The mattress was very comfortable. We loved the warm, inviting ambiance of the hotel and our room. Large, fragrant lavender bushes span the entire front of the hotel and the interior decor is authentically Argentinian. The hosts are wonderful. We booked directly through the hotel’s website and service and hospitality from the moment of booking throughout our stay was outstanding. The gourmet breakfast is fabulous, among the best we had during our six week journey in Patagonia. Our highest recommendations for staying at Los Ponchos in El Calafate!

Los Ponchos in El Calafate, Argentina is a small, but perfectly formed boutique hotel. Plenty of establishments claim to be boutique, but Los Ponchos genuinely achieves this accolade. From our first arrival, the place exuded friendliness and quality. Bags were collected, the reception was very warm and efficient, hot drinks immediately provided. Nothing requested was too much trouble. The room was a suite (as I think all are), with a comfortable sitting area downstairs including a small but ample kitchenette and a shower-room. The bedroom was on a mezzanine floor, with an extremely comfortable large double bed, and a further sitting area boasting a splendid view across the local nature reserve to the turquoise expanse of Lake Argentina. Breakfast is served in your suite or in the lounge immediately adjacent. Food is excellent with plenty of choice; a great granola with a rich fruit salad and yogurt followed by perfectly-cooked scrambled eggs, breads and some delicious pear jam. Dinner had ample choice and was similarly flavoursome. Larger establishments may offer pools and games, but what stands out at Los Ponchos is the service which is of an ubiquitously exceptional standard. Every member of staff member was extremely friendly, going the extra mile to make our stay perfect and with a 'can do' attitude that is rare in the largely process-driven hotel industry. OK, so it is a little further out of town than some establishments, a good things as Calafate is rather busy these days, but give yourself a treat and stay at Los Ponchos.

This place is very unique. I loved having a little apartment and I loved how tastefully the interior common rooms were. And how nice it was to have breakfast served just outside our room. And I loved the intelligent and gracious staff. And I loved the intimate ambiance and being welcomed at the door after a long day of exploring. My husband had a different experience in that in the apartment the bathroom was downstairs and the bedroom was upstairs so this configuration not good for older people like my husband or those who use the bathroom a lot during the night. The staff was responsive to this need and made up a bed on the sofa downstairs so he was near the bathroom. Aside from this he too thought Los Ponchos was a treat and looked forward to the breakfast served each morning. China and beautiful linens made this a lovely start of the day.

Super charming hotel with lovingly maintained and clean rooms, you can tell the furnishings and decor throughout were very thoughtfully curated (antique silverware and china, beautiful woolen textiles). We loved how personalized and warm the service from hotel staff was, from check in to daily turndown service and our meals. The breakfast was our favorite from our trip, with fresh orange juice, made to order eggs, fruit salad with premium ingredients (not just your typical sad cantaloupe salad), and warm pastries.
The hotel is a bit outside the main Calafate area, but as a result it’s much more peaceful and it’s situated within walking distance to the excellent Rustico Asador and Parilla restaurant and the lakefront. Street parking is available in front of the hotel if driving your own car.
Really a lovely overall experience, the only thing that was slightly off for me was our bathroom had an earthy / metallic plumbing smell that we couldn’t get rid of because the bathroom doesn’t have a fan or window. Very minor nitpick overall on a great hotel that we’ll definitely go back to!

Just left El Calafate after a great stay at Los Ponchos. It was one of the most well appointed inns we have stayed in - there were personal touches everywhere including frames ponchos, local crafts, antique rustic furnishings that reflected great taste and curation. The staff were all incredibly warm and personable - Maggie was a standout that helped us at the reception and at dinner. We had a room with a direct and open view onto Lago Argentino and had breakfast in our room both mornings with a great vista before us over coffee. Dinner was also very well done with fresh flavors and very good prices. Tours picked up at the hotel without problems and while downtown was a short taxi ride away we walked the 1.5-2 miles every time. Top marks to Los Ponchos! They were part of our very special experience in El Calafate!

Los Ponchos is special. Their staff is the sweetest, most helpful people. They're always quick and eager to help with dinner recommendations or offering a complimentary pot of tea when the heat goes out (not a fault of the hotel, but rather one of the nuclear power plants in the Argentina shut down and half the country was without power for a few short hours). The breakfast or any meal, including afternoon tea is delicious. The table is set so elegantly with beautiful china and glassware, and lovingly. The pastries for tea is delicious. Get the Budin cake which is homemade and divine. Look around Los Ponchos, and you will see the devil and the love is in the details. From the cozy decor with little special touches, to the bushes of lavender at the front of the hotel that greets you, to the radiant heated floors which were so perfect for those cold El Calafate mornings and nights, and the flower petals laid on top of the bathroom towels. I genuinely had hard time leaving Los Ponchos. My only knocks against are: 1) the bathroom is right on the other side of the hallway, so everyone can hear your business. 2) The shower floor is slick and slippery. Be careful or you'll slip and fall. Otherwise, the bed is wonderful. It's big and comfortable. I slept like a baby. The housekeeping staff does not take their tip money when you leave it to them. Rather, put your tip in an envelope and the entire hotel staff shares in the tips. So tip well.

We absolutely loved our stay at Los Ponchos. The hotel itself is small- only 12 rooms, but our room was quite comfortable and spacious. (The only small issue was that the bedroom was in a loft up a flight of stairs making it somewhat difficult if you need the restroom in the middle of the night- not a big deal though). The entire staff took customer/guest service to a whole new level that we had never experienced at a hotel before by helping with every detail during our visit to el calafate. They booked us dinner reservations, cars to town, suggested the best little restaurant (pura Vida). They couldn’t have been more helpful and all so lovely. Breakfast each morning was served in an enclosed patio area outside our door - the food was great and came at the time we requested. And we had dinner at the hotel one night after a long day of hiking - we hadn’t planned that but Flora and Barbara at the front desk seemed to know we’d be tired and offered it. Both of them communicated via what’s app when we were in our room or out and about which was so helpful. We loved getting to know the whole staff including Maggie and Florencia as well. Thank you all so much for your hospitality and taking your commitment to the Los Ponchos hotel so evident.

The structure is very well thought out. The rooms are served by a very long glass corridor overlooking the garden where breakfast is served. We feel at home. The staff is very kind and very nice. Many thanks to Barbara for her patience and smile. One of the best hotels in El Calafate.

What a beautiful boutique hotel with a different take on dining. In the main building each room has a dining table outside the door in a type of orangery corridor with views of the garden. Meals are cooked to order and it's very relaxing if you don't want to get a taxi into town. The rooms are split level with kitchenette/living area downstairs and very comfortable bedroom upstairs. All the staff, led by Barbara, are wonderful with nothing too much trouble. Barbara booked us into La Zaina restaurant one night which was excellent and authentic and had the best rose wine of the holiday. Very glad we stayed here.

This apart/boutique hotel is absolutely gorgeous and perfectly located. It enjoys a commanding view of the lake, and is on a quiet street slightly above the main drive. The entrance is carpeted in lavender shrubs that fill the air with their smell. The lobby is set up like a beautiful living room. You can have drinks there, as we did, or just sit back and relax. The rooms are spacious and very well equipped. We had an apartment (two adults) that could've easily hosted a family with two small children or tweens. The room, #9, had a beautiful view of the lake and had a large queen bed in a separate room, bathroom, and a kitchen with microwave, refrigerator, and a table where we had our breakfast. There were also two sofas for two additional guests. We traveled with two 18 year olds. They stayed on room #2, also looking at the lake, and they loved their two-floor apartment. Amazing! The garden in the back is gorgeous, and there are cabins that have lovely porches to sit back and enjoy your mate. The rest of our party consisted of two adults with two young girls ages 1l and 9, and that's where they stayed. They had a dinner table and separate living room where both families met and enjoyed an afternoon mate, after hiking all day. We also had dinner one evening in the cabin, and it was delicious! There are also tables set up along a glass walled hallway that looks at the beautiful garden in the back of the hotel, and that's where we had breakfast upon arrival. It's so pretty, with large poplar trees lining the property on the sides! The rest of the days, for breakfast, we just let the front desk know the time, and the table would be set in our room the night before. Every detail here is incredible. The china, the service, the customized care during our stay, we just loved every bit of it. The hotel has this "zen" feel, calm, homey, we just wanted to spend time there as much as we wanted to tour the town and sights. Karina overseeing the whole operation, was superb, making sure that everything we wanted was taken care of. The rest of the team helped us make reservations and gave us great recommendations for dinner. We cannot recommend this hotel highly enough. Have you ever stayed at a place that made you dream of owning it, and pondered what it would be like to live there? This is that place! We will surely come back when we return to further explore the beautiful Argentine Patagonia.

We did borh.
We tended to walk into town for donner - 20 minutes along the lakefront - and then take a taxi back.
Taxi easy - lots of them and not expensive.
For tours (eg to glaciers) the tour buses pick you up at he hotel. And you are on the right side of town so you get picked up last (less waiting on bus).
Dear Sr.,
Thank you for to book with Los Ponchos Apart Boutique.
All our Apart have Frigobar and in our lobby you can find a minibar with the most common drinks.
We do not have a restaurant, but we can offer you pizzas and salads in your room. Just two blocks from our hotel you have a very good restaurant.
