Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Rated #1 among small hotels, Casona DelAlto stands above all of the rest. Starting with an awesome location on a hillside above San Martin de los Andes, the views of the valley are spectacular. Lilia and Fernando are wonderful and warm hosts at a beautiful property they built and landscaped themselves. The wood and craftmanship evident in and outside the main lodge are a perfect match to the decor and furnishings. Lilia and her staff prepare delicious breakfasts and she cooks a spectacular evening meal you can reserve specially. We visited in January 2024 and stayed only 4 nights, wish it were longer. The value for the cost is more than a fair return; other locations can be very close in price with nowhere near the same experience, comfort and ambiance.

We stayed 3 nights. The house is very nice and well-kept, very well decorated and the views are incredible from all spaces. The owners are there for everything, they attend to the guests in person. Breakfast included a la carte with homemade pastries, very delicious. We had dinner one night, with prior reservation and menu selection in the morning: very good experience.
That said, we consider the price of the place to be very high for the services offered. In that sense we expected more. It is an accommodation that is in a rural area and away from shops, therefore it would be very good to have a minibar in the rooms with some type of selection of drinks, snacks and/or an electric jug to prepare tea or coffee. There was only a jug of water and some candy. A water dispenser was missing in the large jacuzzi area. There are no robes in the room, we stayed with the ones from the spa. The amenities are the bare minimum, soap, shampoo, conditioner. Having an individual jacuzzi in the bathroom some salts wouldn't hurt. In our case, the heating in the room was not enough.
I hope these comments are considered to improve the experience at the place.

We stayed with my partner and it was a beautiful experience.
The rooms are beautiful, with an unbeatable view.
It has unique spaces, a reading room with an incredible view is the most notable.
Breakfast lives up to the experience and dining at least once is definitely recommended.
Lilia and Fernando provide an experience that forces you to return and recommend to everyone you know.

If you are looking for a warm experience, tranquility, good people and good service, stop looking. The room is comfortable, nothing is missing and it smells nice. The living room is wonderful no matter the weather. With a view to the east, the sofas and the beautiful bookshelf are more relaxing than a glass of wine. Speaking of which, you can have a delicious wine and a dinner fit for kings, cooked and catered by the lovely owners, who can tell you all about the local wildlife and activities.
It is truly a pleasure, the warmest and most welcoming place I have ever visited.

It is a small hotel (or Inn) comfortable and elegant. It has a cozy and very well decorated style (in a "European Cottage" style, I think). The room is quite spacious and accommodated very well couple and already adult daughter. Breakfast is served at the table, and guests can make a few choices. The bathroom was also very beautiful and elegant (the bathtub was great!). There's a very small gym, but well equipped. The whole room was well heated and the WI-FI was great. What was a pleasant surprise for us (as we hadn't seen pictures of it) was the view of the room and the common areas of the hotel. From these places, you can see the sunrise behind the peaks of the Andes Mountains, these peaks that, when we went, were almost all covered in snow. Finally, it is worth noting the hospitality of the owners, who received us very well. We're already looking forward to coming back.

We loved this place, very homely, exceptionally clean and cared for, good views, good food, comfy beds, nothing not to like. The hosts were fabulous, there to help and have a chat if you felt like it but not intrusive. The hotel is out of town so a car is advisable but taxis into town are not unreasonable prices.

Not only is the house a lovely place to relax with beautiful views, the owners Lily & Fernando make you feel like family. The food is delicious and they are so helpful with anything you might need. They have great recommendations for what to do in the area. The house is just a short drive to the town of San Martin. There is parking, but it’s easy to get a taxi. Highly recommend if you are visiting the area!

Lilly and Fernando have created a little slice of heaven in Argentine Patagonia. Despite being a 10-15 minute drive outside of town, their cozy and comfortable hotel was a great place to stay for a long weekend in San Martin de los Andes. They truly make you feel at home. The breakfasts and dinner were fantastic. We can't wait to come back during ski season!

If you stay at the superior room (King bed), where we stayed, there were bathrobes in the closet, for usage for the jaccuzi, since you have to go outside and down some stairs, so don't bring any with you.( I think all rooms have them) You are going to love this place. Make sure you eat dinner there as well. The food is very good and worth having it there rather than driving to the city. We did not want to leave.
