Stayed in July 2010 - my second visit. Something seems to gave slipped. Several afternoon I had trouble sleeping because of barking dogs next door. The maids were slow refreshing breakfast food - every day I had to ask for more milk etc and often the tables weren't cleared. On top of that, the maids seemed very unhappy. The bathroom... More

stayed here for a week and a half in july 2010. the rooms are nothing fancy, but totally clean and perfectly adequate. the location is next to san telmo, the bohemian quarter of buenos aires. the actual street where the hotel is situated is a bit down-at-heel, but we walked back to the place most nights and never felt remotely... Despite the first impression, because of the ugly surroundings of the hotel, the location was quite safe at the time we of our travel. The hotel has a very nice rooftop and the accomodation we stayed was very spacious and clear. It has a very homey and comfortable atmosphere and the staff was very friendly and helpful.

If you like cockroaches in your room - this is the hotel for you. If you like to be held up by gun 1 block from your hotel on Calle Mexico during broad daylight, then this is the hotel for you. If you like to buzz a grocery shop to get in and all the storefronts on Calle Mexico within... More

This hotel is an old 3 storey house which has been done up into a variety of rooms. We had a quad pair of rooms that shared a tiny bathroom. They were comfortable with extremely high ceilings, air con in one room, fan in the other, wifi and fresh and clean. The staff were extremely friendly and make you feel... More

The hotel location is good, it's near the downtown and only 2 blocks from a subway station. The accomodation are not fancy but are good. But the best of it is the staff, they were always very helpfull and provided a lot of tips about Buenos Aires.

Great price, rooms have character, could be bigger. Not much of a vibe when we stayed there, if you are looking for a boutique hotel to meet people try somewhere else. Location is a bit so/so, it is about a 10 minute walk to the middle of San Telmo, where markets/cafes/bars are. Nothing too interesting near the hotel. Great spot... More

It was near the Casa Rosada, some ATMs, and a weekend market. The area nearby was a bit dubious, the breakfast was AWFUL (more like hostal food), the cleaning was also iffy... I would recommend NOT booking their taxi as $36 is probably $10 over what the cost would be otherwise...You know you're in trouble when your driver wears a... More

Staying in Montserrat

Neighbourhood Profile
Montserrat
As part of the historic quarter of Buenos Aires, Montserrat is defined by the historical events that took place there and the landmarks that have stood the test of time. The Plaza de Mayo is at the center of this connection to history: countless public demonstrations have passed through this square, going back to the May Revolution of 1810. Walking the streets of Montserrat allows us to imagine what Buenos Aires may have looked like in the past: the Cabildo takes us back to the late 16th century, while the Palacio Barolo and the traditional cafés carry us to the early 20th. Nowadays, the neighbourhood is inundated every day by office workers, buses, and taxis; still, the cobblestones, narrow sidewalks, and subway stations from the 1910s remind us that we are surrounded by history everywhere we look.
