We had a great stay at La Cayetana as the first leg of our honeymoon in February 2014. When we first arrived in the city, it was a Sunday, and as the cab drove us into the area, we started to be a bit concerned about our choice of hotel. We buzzed to get inside, and were taken from what...

Aconchegante, decoração bem graciosa, calefação ótima - inclusive no banheiro!

We stayed here in March in this lovely 200 year old house. This was our second visit to this calm and tranquil hotel with a magnificent patio where you can escape from the busyness of the city. The hotel is also very quiet at night (and this counts in Buenos Aires). There are several good restaurants close by, and it...

We really enjoyed our stay at this hotel - as others have said, it's truly an oasis of calm in the busy city of Buenos Aires. Our executive room was very comfortable, spacious and oh so quiet despite its location on quite a busy street. The staff were lovely and always prepared to help with restaurant bookings, arranging taxis and...

We stayed here three nights and thoroughly enjoyed it. The hotel itself looks nothing from the outside but once inside the gates it is beautiful and tranquil. Our room overlooked the garden and was very comfortable and clean. The staff were very helpful and breakfast was plentiful. There are several restaurnts in walking distance and we felt quite safe walking...

We stayed at la cayetana in December 2011 for 2 nights. Once you enter the large gates you forget about the busy city behind you. The beautiful garden and simple rooms are perfect as an escape to the noise and traffic of the city. The staff was very friendly and went out of their way to make sure we got...

Hotel Cayetana is a beautifully restored old building in Montserrat. Gorgeous tiled floors, lovely garden space but what really made it was the staff who simply could not have been any more helpful sorting airport pickup, taxis in the city, ferries, Tigres cabins anything we needed. Our three year old daughter fell in love with the place. For us the...

We have been 2 nights in La Cayetana. It is a nice place in Montserrat, which is a nice neighborhood. We had one of the two rooms facing the streets. We cannot recommend these rooms because they are directly on the street and it is impossible to open the windows as people on the street are directly in front of...

The fact that this hotel has no real street presence should not put you off - once you go through the large wooden doors you are in another world. We were given the best room in the place, a two level suite, which was a real treat for the start of our South American trip. The staff were friendly, helpful...

La Cayetana was our first stay in South America. From the moment we walked through the beautiful mosaic courtyard we knew we had found a little inner city oasis. The staff were so amazingly warm and helpful, but most of all flexible, especially since we had to keep booking extra nights due to cancelled flights. Breakfasts were absolutely beautiful. Although...

Staying in Montserrat

Neighbourhood Profile
As part of the historic quarter of Buenos Aires, Montserrat is defined by the historical events that took place there and the landmarks that have stood the test of time. The Plaza de Mayo is at the center of this connection to history: countless public demonstrations have passed through this square, going back to the May Revolution of 1810. Walking the streets of Montserrat allows us to imagine what Buenos Aires may have looked like in the past: the Cabildo takes us back to the late 16th century, while the Palacio Barolo and the traditional cafés carry us to the early 20th. Nowadays, the neighbourhood is inundated every day by office workers, buses, and taxis; still, the cobblestones, narrow sidewalks, and subway stations from the 1910s remind us that we are surrounded by history everywhere we look.

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
An oasis of easygoing elegance in a colonial townhouse dating from 1820. A series of 3 traditional "Patios" surrounded by 11 en-suite bedrooms. The decor is a mix of astonishing period furniture with rustic touches reminiscent of pampa estancias. The indoor garden is a rare luxury, especially during Buenos Aires' sultry summer months. Behind its historic wooden door, guest will discover the warm hospitality that makes La Cayetana a "Home away from Home". ... more   less
