I loved the stay at the hostel for three reasons: 1) helpful staff: big smile and helpful information 2) nice peel travellers. Got useful information from nice folks met at the Hostle 3) good restaurants near by. Just one or two block down Chlie St. Lots of good restaurants and Cafe. There is one super market across the street. What...

I stayed in two different rooms. The first one was good, the second was a bit filthy and dirty. Rooms itself are rather small. Staff is okay and friendly. The common areas are functional, however look a bit clinical and loud music is played all day long. Breakfast was good. Wifi only works sometimes and in some parts of the...

We stayed in this hostel for 3 in nights at the beginning of our trip in Argentina. The staff were very helpful and pleasant. The location in San Telmo was great. Overall, the room was clean, they supplied towels and soap, and there is a small safe in the room (private room). They were able to provide vouchers for a...

Great value hostel! I stayed here twice during my stay in Argentina. Clean. Easy to find. Always hot water and decent pressure for showers. Reliable internet facilities. Relaxed atmosphere. Points for location being in lively San Telmo and only a few minutes walk from bars, cafes, ice cream parlors, restaurants, grocery stores, banks & city landmarks. The staff are approachable,...

Stayed 10 days on a Habitat Global Village build. Hostel staff are fantastic, the location is great, the building provided ample spaces for our team of 16 to gather for various meetings and the odd wine tasting. Rooms are very nice, air conditioning and internet are excellent. Always lots of hot water for a shower. All rooms have plug adapters...

Two friends and I have stayed here twice over our holiday. The staff are very helpful and friendly, the atmosphere is relaxed and the facilities are great. The rooms are a little cramped with tiny showers and sinks in the main living area, but there is always hot water and good pressure. The music is good, though unreliable. Lots of...

This hostel is extremely nice and clean, and also extremely popular. Rooms all have their own sink, shower and toilet which are really clean as staff come around make your beds/clean the room every day. There is a really nice TV area and communal computers downstairs, and a well equipped kitchen/bar area near the reception. The hostel has free activities...

We had a great stay here, for nearly two weeks. This is a great hostel to be in if you really want to explore BA as the location is really good and the staff are great at offering advice and answering questions. There's also a blackboard with activities for each day listed, including free (tip-based) walking tours. We stayed in...

Staying in San Telmo

Neighbourhood Profile
San Telmo
Characterized by cobblestones and narrow streets, San Telmo is defined by the tango, the dance that made Buenos Aires world-famous. Tango is a fusion of many different cultures: a true child of immigration, much like the city itself. Nowadays, it comes alive after dark in the milongas (dance parties) attended by both locals and visitors alike, who dance until the wee hours of the morning. During the day, the antique shops and classic cafés and bars around Plaza Dorrego dominate the scene. The emblematic Bar Plaza Dorrego, with its green awnings, checkered tile floors, and wooden interiors, takes you back in time the moment you step inside. For true porteño traditions, San Telmo is the place to be.
