Detailed Reviews
The location is good to explore the village and also to use as a starting point to explore the region. It is free and easy to park (at least in May).
The room was spacious and the bed was comfortable.
The staff is friendly.
The sound isolation is not great and you can hear quite well when someone walks in the hallway or opens/closes their door.
The room facilities are a bit outdated and some worned out, but nothing major. You can just notice.
It is fair to say that the hotel fulfills the basic requirements and for a 3 star hotel in some aspects goes a bit beyond. Overall it is a relatively cheap hotel that is good for 2/3 nights, but don't expect a lot.

The hotel has a family feel with staff who are always attentive and very friendly. The rooms are simple but comfortable and very clean, the insulation of the windows should be improved, something that’s planned to be done soon, they informed us. The breakfast had the essential and was of excellent quality, especially being a three star hotel.

The hotel is within walking distance of the city centre. There is free street parking outside and free, but spartan, breakfast. The staff are nice but do not speak English. Fortunately, they solved it with an app that translated. The room and bathroom are a good size with a balcony. There is a small pool and some sunbeds at the hotel.

the hotel apparently date to the eighties of the previous century seemed not been refurbished rethought or more than that restyled . there is no problem in 3* hotel and substainaibility whenever they have their own rules standarts and filled them correctly
we could have gone along without the traditional patatas orange soup the local baklaou fish if they were prepared with attention and taste, same for the rooms which were cold on this february winter . the same person attending us at the dining room at the reception so she could not be smiling to us a group of 22 pax

+1
Visited Portugal in 2008.
Found this hotel after dark with no reservations when we couldn't get a bed in Marvao and were very pleased with out 1-night stay. Comfortable, well-appointed and spacious rooms, within our budget ( in which we were NOT being spendy on accomodations),
Very nice (included) breakfast, typical European fare but tasty and generous.
Staff were helpful with directions and restaurant recommendations.
Parking was free and close. Window views lovely from our room and the hotel has the most gorgeous parquet floors, maybe made from cork?

i came to portugal for a holiday, and had grandly planned to stay in those beautiful pousadas until i realized that i would have to take out a bank loan to pay for them. so, i started looking into alternative hotels that were cheaper. i am really happy with the hotel castelo de vide. it is super affordable and i was initially afraid that it would be shabby, but i was definitely wrong. it is not technically in the city center but is just a few minutes away by walking. parking is easy and free. it is really not that hard to find, just across from the public pool.
my room was very spacious with a balcony that got lots of sun. the beds were comfortable and everything was clean. breakfast is included and consists of yogurt, cereals, deli meats, cheeses, your typical european breakfast. it is buffet style and despite being simple, was very good. there is also a small pool with lounge chairs.
staff members were very courteous and gave good restaurant recommendations, including the great restaurant called paladar which i encourage everyone to check out. very tasty!
my only problem is that the housekeeping staff is rather loud. it appeared to be a fairly sizable group of housekeepers and they were very social with each other...but it does make it a bit noisy to take a nap in the daytime. one day, i sat outside by the pool and could hear them talking loudly from inside the rooms they happened to be cleaning.
all in all though, this is a hotel of great value and i would stay again....unless i win the lottery and can stay in those beautiful pousadas.

A three star hotel in Castelo de Vide Alentejo regio in Portugal. Friendly, nice hotel, alacart eating is not possible , it has to be ordered in advance. Rooms are basic, insulation is not properly made, doors towards balcony are not
closing properly, so in cold wheather relatively inconvenient inside. Otherwise ok, centre of the city is 5 minutes walk.

We stayed two nights here although we had only intended to be there for one. This was because the hotel was very much to our taste and the town is a delight. The hotel staff were welcoming; the room and bathroom spotless; the bed was comfortable and the balcony overlooking the pool a plus. The buffet breakfast was adequate but the proper teabags had to be searched for. After breakfast we were able to sit out on a pleasant terrace with our tea or coffee.
The town is a ten minute walk away and is well worth seeing. It is unspoiled and gets on with life! It is a place to explore . We saw very few tourists and the shops are definitely for the local people but perfectly fine.We ate well at a cafe we chose randomly in the centre. Opposite the hotel is the town's sports complex with impressive swimming pools for those who want something bigger than the hotel pool.
Not to be missed is a trip out some 12 kilometres or so to Marvao. This is a small white village with spectacular walls and beautiful views. The larger town of Portalegre was not at all to our taste especially as its famous cork factory is now closed.
We would certainly go there again if it is possible.

We stayed here for one night as part of our tour of Portugal, heading south. The hotel is nice enough, nothing special. There is free parking, and an ok breakfast. The rooms are a bit tired and the tv is very tiny and high up on the wall. For one night it is fine. We got some extra and very much appreciated help from the reception when we checked in; my luggage did not arrive on my flight and they where sending it from Lisboa by bus to Portalegre (20 min by car) and the recpetionist informed us that the bus also came by Castelo de Vide and called them to arrange the pickup here. We waited for the bus and it was more or less on time, and there was my bag :)

This hotel is comfortable and has all that you need. The town is beautiful and well worth visiting. The bedroom was fine, with a nice balcony. The pool could have been cleaner. The breakfast was adequate but better for coffee drinkers than tea drinkers. There were no regular teabags, only herbal, which is not what is required in the morning! A perfectly OK hotel but a bit lacking in atmosphere.
