We normally only stay here when visiting Candidasa. The rooms are very comfortable all overlooking ponds and with lush greenery surrounding them and it is very relaxing. This time it was for Christmas and with Covid we were the only guests. We were looked after beautifully by all the staff and owner. The pool area is well maintained and tranquil, the massages are great and good value from the spa and the food and drinks in the restaurant delicious. As it was Christmas they had a special traditional dinner with all the trimmings and it was very nice to share the evening with people living in Candidasa.

Our travel group of 12 had the opportunity to enjoy a fabulous stay at the Watergarden Hotel while enjoying a quilting seminar and retreat on the property as well. The hotel served as our home away from home while we toured in the Candidasa area and also had quilting lessons at the hotel.
Our rooms and linens were very comfortable. Filtered water was available to us daily as well as a hot pot so we could have coffee in our room in mugs provided in our hotel room while watching the coi our private coi pond while we slowly began our day.
We had hot water every day in a luxurious in room shower.
We ate breakfast and lunch in the hotel dining room everyday. Our group ordered this a day ahead and our breakfast and lunch not only was beautiful and delicious was provided piping hot, on time every day. The most delightful thing about this that the staff’s enthusiasm and friendliness was demonstrated continually. After the first day, they all knew my name and the rest of our party of twelves names!
I forgot to mention that they also for a nominal fee did a load of laundry for me which was impeccably done, folded and smelled fantastic on the same day I left it with the front desk.
All of this superb service attention to detail starts with one key element, an employee named Puta. She introduced herself to our group when we checked in coming to each of our rooms to let us know to contact her if we needed anything. From spa appointment which (I highly recommend you do as many as possible while you are there) as well as addressing any questions we had.
She also came and picked up 3 guests who didn’t want to continue activities in Candidasa and took them back to the hotel.
She also helped us hire Balinese dancers for our final evening dinner which we had at the hotel that was delicious, intimate and wonderful for our group. Thanks to the entire staff for making our visit to Bali so wonderful! We will be back!

Difficult to write a review for the water-garden as a hotel as at the time of our stay we were the only guests. It was more like stopping in a private resort where the staff out numbered the guests 6 to 1 and they where all amazing.

We stopped for 2 nights in one of the private villas which since we here the only guests it was surprising we where right at the back of the property but at least it meant it was very quiet and peaceful. With the fan on the aircon turned down at night you could hear the splashing of the waves.

The hotel (once famous) is showing signs of ageing and I think covid did quite a number on its bookings but it’s still very clean and comfortable. The on-site restaurant serves amazing food and when the bottle of wine I ordered wasn’t in stock the waitress got on her scooter and went and bought some. Breakfast is served in your room but has to be pre ordered the day before.

It is difficult to argue with sone of the reviews about the smell of damp in the rooms but if your stopping in a tropical environment the air is generally going to be moist.

My only criticism is how slippy the path is up to the villas both me and my partner slipped quite a few time walking through the maze of foliage to get to and from our room.

We also made use of the on-site spa, having a massage, manicure and foot massage. All very relaxing and carried out by friendly staff. Prices reasonable.

What a magical find. Tucked away in the most beautiful, private, tropical gardens. An oasis to relax and do absolutely nothing. We stayed in the Kul Kul Private Pool Suite for 3 nights. Check in was perfect we were greeted with a delicious Mocktail whilst we filled in paperwork. The pathway to our room was like the secret garden, lush tropical flowers and well tended gardens. Our Suite had its own garden and tinkling waterfalls and ponds. The room has wonderful sliding glass doors that keep the Room refreshingly cool. The bed is huge, lovely linen and a 4 poster canopy. Best nights sleep as the mattress is so comfortable. The outdoor sandstone bathroom is huge. We dined both in the restaurant, pool area and had room service breakfasts delivered to our room. The menu has so many choices, we ate here for every meal. The other rooms have beautiful outlooks over Koi fish filled ponds from their private verandas. Very private and quiet. The main pool is a brilliant Azure blue and all around is mature Coconut trees. Perfect place to watch the clouds float by and do nothing. In short it is a beautiful, well established resort, that whilst perhaps not everything is shiny and new has so much to offer.
We are booked in for the Spa this afternoon as the Hotel offers a wide selection of Spa experiences. The beach is just across the road. We were very happy here and l would highly recommend it.

This was my second visit to The Watergarden, the last was over 20 years ago, and made a lasting impression on me. This time around, it was just as lovely. While on the main road the individual bungalows are set well back, and are placed so you not only have your very own lotus and koi filled pond, but privacy from your neighbours. The rooms are spotless and well equipped, and the verandas perfect for relaxing with a book and a beer. Great swimming pool, excellent restaurant, and very good value. Above all, wonderful people. Nothing was too much trouble, and they went out of their way to help us with our plans. We hope to return.

I have just returned from a 2.5 hour spa package and it was sensational. The cottages sit on the edge of a carp pond and lush greenery. You feel totally secluded in this peaceful setting.
I started with a foot massage on the verandah then moved inside for a full body massage and body scrub, finishing with a refreshing shower.
Thanks Putu for this wonderful spa experience

The tranquil surroundings was just what I needed after my cleansing ritual in Ubud & the staff were always ready to help. Manageress Puta saw that my needs were met in every way. Every afternoon around 4 'o clock, she softly made her presence known to ask if everything was ok.
Even after a long days ensuring all guests were well taken care of, she still had a smile & kind word. I could see in her eyes the deep pride she felt in her role, and the happiness it brought her to see that everyone who stayed at the hotel felt at peace.

No praise could do justice to the gift that was her presence at the Watergarden Hotel. I will definitely be back.

Place to relax. The room is nice. Secluded with plants, lilies and fish. Very tropical And quiet. Several places for night life and dining, as well as places to buy souvenirs. The hotel can provide you with a driver at an affordable cost to take you wherever you want to go.

I can't say enough about this hotel. Just wonderful. The staff the management. I stayed for three days in the end of September and loved it so much I went back for another three days towards the middle of my trip in October. Sitting on the porch of your room and enjoying the Koi fish in the pond while having breakfast is simply magical. It is a short drive to a wonderful beach. Don't miss out on this hotel. The price/value of this hotel is through the roof!

This is our third stay in The Watergarden Hotel in Candidasa.
This time we spend 4 nights in this beautiful water- and garden palace.
The always very friendly staff and the warm hospitality is special for The Watergarden hotel.
The Balinese cottage's are situated in a oasis of gardens and pools. It is almost impossible to see the other accommodation from the veranda of a cottage.
There is a great Orchid Spa offering a wide range of treatments. good.
We had a special cooking class with the master chef.
The hotel is situated on the main road through Candi Dasa and is a few hundred metres from the beach.
Highly recommended and we would not hesitate to go back. The staff is always friendly and there service is very good.
