Nestled in a tranquil, scenic oceanfront setting, Candi Beach Resort & Spa is celebrated for its serene atmosphere and proximity to nature, although some guests find it a bit isolated. The service at the resort is often lauded, with staff commended for their attentiveness and dedication to crafting memorable experiences.

Detailed Reviews
We stayed here in a garden bungalow for 10 nights, mainly to scuba dive. We found the room to be in a quiet area, yet close to the pool, reception and restaurants. It felt quite private as tucked away in the gardens. We got a free gift of a sarong upon arrival. The bed was very comfortable, we slept very well here. Bathroom spacious with rainfall shower. Shampoo, shower gel and even a toothbrush were provided, but no body lotion. We had to keep requesting this nearly every day, which was quite annoying (we didn't bring it to save luggage space as hotels always provide it). They had it, but it wasn't put on the rooms for some reason.
It's a quiet resort, perfect for relaxing and a great base for scuba diving, with a dive centre in the resort itself. I did 12 dives with the dive centre and was very impressed, saw turtles, sharks and rays and dived the USS Liberty twice.
However we like our holidays to be quite action packed, and we felt a little bored here with the lack of things to do. There wasn't many excursion options at all, we like sightseeing and photography and the only sightseeing excursion was visiting the temple and water Palace, everything else was trekking, cycling, or snorkeling, which didn't really appeal to us as divers. There were 2 free walking tours available from the hotel, but both of these were quite short. Everything also seemed to take place at around the same time in the morning, Tai Chi, Yoga, scuba diving, so didn't have time to do everything and was bored the rest of the day. There are also some short afternoon activities, like coconut tree climbing and a cooking demonstration.
Breakfast was good, an omelette bar, and a variety of hot dishes, fruit and fruit juices and pastries. I enjoyed the doughnuts. However hot chocolate cost extra, which is annoying, and the coffee was awful. It was nice to eat breakfast outside overlooking the beach.
There were 3 restaurant options. The Italian and Indonesian restaurants were quite good, very generous portion sizes and the price wasn't too high for most dishes. The Ocean Terrace restaurant was good for lunch (burgers, pizzas and sandwiches), but very disappointing for dinner. Considering that this was the more expensive restaurant, the food quality was poor. Both dinners I had here was disappointing, flavourless duck legs and a cardamom chicken curry which was a large piece of chicken in skin containing some bones drizzled in a tiny bit of curry sauce. One evening, they gave us a free appetiser of a ham sandwich which was just bizarre. All three restaurants had views of the beach, and were perfect for watching the breathtaking sunsets over dinner.
There is also free WiFi throughout the resort with excellent coverage.
There was a 50% off the spa offer if we didn't change our bedsheets or towels for a day, which was good, and allowed us to visit the spa on our final day for a reasonable price.
Pools are open to 9pm, which we liked as we could have an evening swim after dinner.

Dear vanadia7, Thank you for staying with us and we appreciate your comprehensive review. We are glad to hear that you find the location of our hotel relaxing and a great base for scuba diving. We are also happy to learn that your overall stay was enjoyable. Your constructive feedback regarding the extra cost for the hot chocolate, and the food at Ocean Terrace have been noted for future improvement. We hope we have the opportunity to serve you again on your return in the future. Best regards, Gede Widia

We had a very enjoyable and relaxing stay at Candi Beach Resort. The resort is well located and is within walking distance of several decent warungs and a short motorbike ride to other cafes and restaurants in Candidasa. The resort itself was very peaceful and quiet during our stay (as it was the low season) and it was very nice sitting by the beach or the pool with nice views directly out to the ocean. We booked a ‘Deluxe Bungalow Garden View’ room and were happy with that. Our room was nicely decorated, had all the facilities we needed, and was surprisingly peaceful at all times of the day and night. Note that rooms prices are progressively more expensive the closer they are to the beach, but it’s questionable whether the more expensive ones are worth it as very few of them have full ocean views. The staff were all very friendly and helpful and quick to resolve any issues (e.g. we were initially provided the wrong room type upon check-in). Breakfast was decent each morning and was served at the main restaurant with nice views out to the ocean. Overall, this resort was a very nice place for a peaceful and relaxing getaway.

A lot to digest? Read an AI-generated summary of recent traveller reviews.
What makes the perfect hotel? Is it being well-connected to local amenities? Is it being secluded and out of the way? Is it having its own beach? Is it having a room with a bath that overlooks said private beach with a balcony? I’m sure that some combination of those features will definitely be included, but that’s just my personal take. It also happens to be what our time in Candi Beach Resort started off by showing us, and then things only got better.
As well as having a bath, a balcony, a luxury view, and free saris, we were also welcome to a surprise birthday cake for my partner. I had told all of the hotels we went to on our holiday to see if they could do something a little special for my partner, and Candi Beach Resort were the only ones to not only supply a cake but to do so with a reveal and a song. This would be the first sign that the staff could keep a secret, a fact that would come into spectacular play later in our stay.
Our Junior Suite was in the newest section of the Candi Beach Resort, a place that requires one to walk along the promenade of a random, smaller, and entirely different hotel to reach. The walk is minimal, approximately ten seconds at most, and nobody so much as bats an eye at you for walking past, even if you’re moving from one pool to the other. The hotel, among its many amenities, also had a diving station, from which we could rent out snorkels and fins to take in the simply spellbinding house reef that lives on the resort’s private beaches. The prices were reasonable, the staff eternally attentive, and the gear was easy enough for even a complete novice like my partner to put on.
As this was the last stop on our tour of South East Asia, I took this opportunity to have some relaxing time by the pool as well as taking a day to go visit nearby dive sites. Unbeknownst to me, my partner was concocting his own surprise for our final night in Bali. After previously informing me that we were going to have a romantic Balinese meal, I assumed said meal would take place in the gazebo by the beach (where we had seen other couples dine during the course of our stay). Words failed me however when we were instead shown to a private elevator and led out onto the roof of part of the hotel that had been decorated with a winding path of candles, arranged flowers and an entire separate gazebo.
And then he got down on one knee.
I wish I could tell you more details about the meal, the wine, among other more factual details of that night, however I will admit everything is a bit of a happy blur after that point (I believe the food was delicious, though).
Although our stay at Candi Beach Resort was short, it is something that will stay with us forever and I’m proud to say it played such a prominent part in our adventure.

My boyfriend and I stayed here 3 times during our 3 week trip to Bali. We even checked out of one of our other hotels a day early and transferred back to Candi Beach Resort. All 3 restaurants at the hotel are fantastic, the grounds are kept very clean, and the staff is incredibly friendly! We stayed in 3 different type of rooms, the best being the rooms in building 5 by Basil Restaurant (Garden and Sea View rooms). The location of the resort is fairly secluded, but you can hit some really cool spots with a driver, a scooter rental, or the transport service that the hotel offers that goes in to town twice a day.

My husband and I enjoyed an amazing 5 days at this beautiful resort in east Bali in late February. We chose the luxurious ocean view room and were blown away by the stunning view from our room and all of the amenities in the suite: jacuzzi tub and couch on balcony, large walk in shower, king size bed, double sinks, etc. Service was outstanding everywhere on the resort from the cleaning staff, to the servers and bartenders. The buffet breakfast was great and we had some nice meals at all 3 restaurants, with the Italian being our favourite. Our only suggestion for improvement to the resort would be to upgrade one of the 3 restaurants to more of an upscale menu in the evening...perhaps the Ocean Terrace as it has a great view of the sea. We did enjoy 2 meals at outside restaurants....the one at Alila was especially noteworthy and both restaurants sent drivers to pick you up and drive you back to the resort. Overall, we would highly recommend this resort!!

This is a lovely hotel situated right on the beach with beautiful gardens. If you are feeling flush there are secluded bungalows with plunge pools (that I only discovered after exploring the gardens near the end of our stay) but the rooms are situated in 2 buildings and it's worth paying extra for a sea view.
Our ocean deluxe room was small with very little floor space but was redeemed by a nice large balcony with day bed. The wardrobe had no full length space so i resorted to hanging my dresses on the balcony which made it look like a Chinese laundry 😂. I was also hoping to do some pilates in the room but there simply wasn't space.
The bed was very comfy and the pillows were good. The bathroom had both a bath and shower but toiletries were basic - 2 in 1 shampoo/conditioner and liquid soap.
The restaurant overlooking the sea is a lovely spot for breakfast, which was very good. We also ate dinner here one night which was surprisingly inexpensive.
The hotel is some way from the centre of Candidasa but quite a few restaurants offer a shuttle service. There is a lovely walk if you come out of the hotel and turn left.

The hotel location is excellent, in a quiet town a short distance from busy Dempasar, although is only 60 km the drive takes about 1,5 hours as the traffic along the way to the Hotel is not really happened due to the current conditions. The hotel installation is great and we booked 2 Villas. The Villas facilities is really premium with big private pool. The enthusiastic and warm hospitality are delightfully delivered with Balinese Culture, Food and Beverage are valuable and reach of variance. The Beach is awesome overlooking Nusa Penida Island and the swim able.
We were enjoyed very much and highly recommend to all travelers who planned to experience and explore East of Bali!

This turned out to be an incredible stay, 10 days in a stunning location not least dwarfed by an enormous live volcano. The local community, many who work in the resort are lovely, friendly people who will do anything to make your stay as great as possible. Befriend them and they will tell you where to go, what to eat an what to see.
We stayed in a luxury villa, totally secluded with; an infinity pool, double showers, double sinks, dressing gowns, free sarongs and fully air conditioned serviced twice a day, absolutely quiet amidst the palm trees. The food which was included was well presented and first class, just watch the 21% tax on food and drink outside the inclusions. You could stuff your face at breakfast with endless coffee and a wide variety of cereals. I loved the Candi Granola with dragon fruit puree and eggs any way you wanted. We explored the wide range of Indonesian dishes, some of which we'd never heard of, I think I got used to Gado Gado for starter every day.
The area is clean and you can hire boats to take you on excursions, on a really calm day we grabbed an outrigger and we are still aghast at the size of Mt. Agung in the background. There is a large area to snorkel off the beach and a day's hire of gear is $11, I would have loved to try a long board on the waves that crash on to the reef but could find one to hire.
I could go on but Candidasa was so quiet and serene, it is a long trip east from Denpasar taking up to two hours to reach but believe me, it is worth it. I have pleaded to the people to keep it this way as we would love to go back.

+1
Currently here on a holiday with the wife.
Room is very nice (ocean view suite).
The sliding glass doors do not drown out any noise at all as you get woken up by the restaurant staff around 5.30-6.00am with the sound of plates, tea cups and cutlery.
The view is amazing.
Food
As I’m a Muslim so can only eat halal, the choice is very limited. Vegetables and fish.
Breakfast choice is poor.
Lunch / Dinner not very good.
Plus 21% service charge.
Hotel facilities nearby not good.
Snorkelling have to travel 30 mins
No excursions to I.e. monkey forest, swing etc arranged by in-house tour guides. Have to arrange self which I did.
Pools are good with jacuzzis.
Staff very friendly.
Pricing of new year party was extortionate for us.
Only had tuna and salad whereas other guests had meat / chicken.
Entertainment but poor.
Charged equivalent to £180 for 2 people.
I’d come Bali again but not here.
Do your research first before deciding on location.
Our taxi driver (Suda) who we used was excellent.

Dear e17fcr, We appreciate very much for your kind feedback regarding your recent stay experience. With regard to the noise coming from the breakfast area in the morning we will remind our team to reduce the noise during the preparation. The prices of our food and beverages were set accordingly to the competitor survey and we believe that our prices are still competitive compare to the other hotels in the area. We review our prices on a regular basis and will take your comment into consideration. We hope that you will give us the opportunity to serve you again in the future. Best regards, Gede Widia

The hotel is beautiful and clean, however I had a lot of issues: I paid a premium (very high for Bali standards) to have an ocean view suite , which unfurtunately had zero privacy due to proximity to the restaurant/lounge. I basically needed to hide all the time to not be exposed to people.. The loud music and noises from the restaurant also made it impossible to rest making my "relaxing weekend" totally non relaxing... the service is disappointing too, the bar lady picks and chooses who to serve. the cleaning bangs the door early in the morning waking you up..then they do not come and clean the room.. telephone in room does not work and had to call up the manager..- the manager was nice in meeting me and hearing feedback, but didnt offer anything to resolve or compensate . I would have expected at least a complimentary drink or whatever as a gesture... a spa discount which has already inflated prices is definitely not appropriate as a way to compensate for all the inconveniences.. very disappointed and would not return.. :(

Dear hachikoken, Thank you for taking the time to provide us your feedback. The Luxury Ocean View Suite that you stayed in is very popular due to its direct ocean view. However, we fully understand your concern on the privacy when you spend time in the balcony, as the suite is located on the second floor and close to the restaurant and bar. With regard to the sound of the music we have asked our team to lower the volume on both nights after receiving your feedback. We will have a look at some options to provide more privacy for this room type. It might be worth mentioning also that an option to move to another room with more privacy, away from the restaurant was already offered however this option was declined. We apologize for the inconveniences and we hope to have the opportunity to serve you again in the future. Sincerely yours, Gede Widia General Manager

Hi don’t know on the drinks question , drinks aren’t expensive anyway.
They have traditional shows plus a band on at nights
There are a couple of local restaurants nearby (within 5 minutes' walk from the main entrance). Candidasa town is about a 20 minute walk or just a few minutes in a taxi, where there are more restaurants and a few shops.
Yes, one glass of wine with lunch and dinner is included in the all inclusive package. If you want more you have to pay. Cocktails such as daiquiri, mojito. Soft drinks, tea, coffee, mocktails
Yes there is a very good spa at the resort. It's up above the Indonesian restaurant part to the left.
