The owners are very warm and welcoming - it felt like we were staying with friends. The rooms were wonderful with the little balcony over the lake. Close to Franschoek which is a lovely, cottagy town. Close also so some amazing restaurants and vineyards.

Once in while you come to a place that you know you will never forget. A holiday experience that stands out from the "pretty good" usual experiences that a year later can hardly be remembered. Not so at Papyrus lodge. We spent one night there only, but feel it was the highlight of our holiday. The lodge is run with... More

Papyrus lodge was the perfect accomodation for a romantic getaway to celebrate our annivarsary. The wooden chalets are very stylish with luxury comforts. Although they are situated next to one another one can still have the privacy of your own space with peaceful, tranquil and awesome views all around. The breakfast every morning will especially be remembered. It was prepared... More

Papyrus Lodge is a real hideaway. We loved it for its perfect location, comfortable accommodation (we stayed in de luxe suite in the main lodge house) and the perfect hosts (Stefan and Kirstin) who made us feel very welcome! In words: total relaxation with all mod cons in a beautiful place. Papyrus is only 10 mins drive to Stellenbosch, a... More

We spent the most relaxing and wonderful week at this little paradise. Delightful and charming chalets at the waters edge with a private sun deck, sun lougers and patio furniture. We spent oour days swimming, reading, sunbathing and enjoying the natural beauty around us. We watched the sunset with a glass of local wine, prepared our own barbeque on the... More

We thought Papyrus Lodge was a beautiful place. We stayed in one of the suites in the main house, and it was absolutely gorgeous. In our 4 weeks in South Africa we never stayed anywhere so comfortable. Loads of space, first class furnishings. We hadn't quite appreciated that there would be self-catering facilities, and the little kitchenette in the corner... More

The place is romantic, but I don't think you get value for money. When we stayed there, is was a windy day (like most days in Cape Town) and it was terrible to be on the wooden deck. I've stayed at places in the Western Cape before which offer more then this place - for 1/4 of the price!

On this our fourth visit to South Africa, we recently spent a most enjoyable week’s stay at Papyrus Lodge. With its excellent location giving easy access to Stellenbosch, Somerset West and the N2 to Capetown, the delightful lakeside situation with its gardens and mountain backdrop left absolutely nothing to be desired. Couple first class accommodation and a freshly cooked breakfast... More
