We stayed here for our last night and our only regret was not booking for more nights! Lovely secluded spot in idyllic setting. We relaxed by the pool and hammock before visiting local wineries and a great beach is only 10 minutes away. Really great spot, but would advise booking restaurants in advance!

With 4 in the cottage and 2 in Jacaranda, our family (ages 60 down to 15) were delighted with Acara, with Fiona and George and with the owls! The generous continental breakfast was more than value for small additional cost and Fiona took every additional step available to fit in with our tight (and early) schedule. The kids thought they...

This is an interesting option 10 minutes from central Stellenbosch. We were warmly greeted by the proprietors, Fiona and George, who could not have been more hospitable. Fiona kindly booked us tables at nearby restaurants and advised on local attractions, with assistance from an elaborate booklet of local reference material for guest use. This is a self catering guest house...

We - a family of five - stayed two days at the Acara in February 2012 - and loved every second. Thanks to Fiona for excellent advice and for being such a nice host. This place is excellent for families

We stayed in Acara over Christmas with family whilst on our trip to South Africa in December. My partner and I absolutely loved Acara, Fiona and Dave went out of their way to help make our stay magical. The surroundings are perfect with Fionas horses in the fields, a beautiful swimming pool and loungers and all surrounded by the stunning...

From the moment we arrived we knew we had discovered a very special place. Acara is set back from the road, and hidden amongst the willow trees in the most beautiful garden. Lavender Cottage was our accommodation and just as we imagined; cool, cosy and peaceful. We stayed for nearly 5 weeks and enjoyed every second of our stay. We...

If you are looking for a quit, yet central, a peaceful, yet lively, a beautiful, yet hidden place - and all this looked after with charme and love, then make sure you book this place. Had an 8 day stay which made us (2)relax and enjoy all the way. Having seen a few other places and being south african myself,...

We travelled with our two children aged 9 and 5 and we loved the tranquillity of the gardens and the fabulous views. Our kids loved the space to roam, and were so excited to discover a family of mongeese (or is that mongooses?), Fiona's horses and dogs, and lots of guinea fowl and other birds. We loved to wake up...

Fiona and Dave Stafford are the perfect hosts. We stayed in the Jacaranda Suite, which was just perfect for the 2 of us. The gardens are beautiful, with spectacular views to the Helderberg Mountains. Glorious countryside but only half an hour's drive into Cape Town. We enjoyed the very convenient restaurant, 96 Winery Road, but also just about 3 minutes...
