We chose Asara for the good reviews online. However, the dining, hotel and wine tasting experience were below expectations. Hotel: room was not available upon arrival (1pm), but the reception was pressing insistingly to vacate by 11am. The accommodations were austere, with limited decorations, although views were fantastic! Restaurant "Mise en Place" was also very austere and cold, but food...

I'm a tour director with over 30 years experience in the travel industry who comed from a family of hoteliers. I recently had a group which was supposed to stay at the Spier wine estate.(I was recently at Spier as well which was a real professional setup. ) Unfortunately Spier was overbooked and our group had to stay at Asara....

Dear Robert M, We host many group visits each year, including a number who come back year after year, and work happily with group leaders and companies to provide special experiences for the group, and to make each visit enjoyable and memorable. Usually, as is proper, the details of bookings and payments have no bearing on the guest experience. In...

We stayed for one night at the end of our holiday. Good large deluxe room(difficult to keep the lighting low in the bathroom) but no stocked mini bar if important to you.The beauty for us was that there is a choice of dining, fine, or the more casual area in the Sansibar brasserie.Pizzas delicious and the baby chicken divine. We watched...

Dear Richard G, Thank-you for the kind review, we're delighted to hear that you so much enjoyed your time at Asara. Just to mention re: the mini-bar. We do stock the mini-bar, but only at the guest's request and only with items that the guest specifically wants. This requires no more than a call to reception and a ten minute...

I haven't stayed at Asara or done a wine tasting. But a dinner at the Mise en Place restaurant on the terrace (with an absolutely stunning view over their dam into the mountains) put Asara firmly on the list for another visit. Service was impeccable (very attentive but not obtrusive), food excellent and it was a lovely dinner all around....

A business meeting combined with a wine tasting - what an excellent idea. We sat in the tasting room, overlooking the cellar with the very impressive chandelier. What an enjoyable afternoon. It is a beautiful farm.

My husband and I booked the penthouse suite for our first night in South Africa. Even paying in GBP this room was expensive. The room was beautiful but the air con was clearly not working. The initial solution was a portable air conditioner that sounded like a 747 was in the room. Three further calls and a trip to reception...

All I can say about our meal at Mise en Place is that it was perfect and easily our best meal in the Cape Town area. The waterfront table was breathtaking, the service personal and friendly with great wine pairing advice. All the food was utterly delicious, presented beautifully and the perfect portion size. The wine was so good that...

Breakfast, lunch, diner and the view are very very good / nice ! Dear constance d, Thank-you for the review and kind remarks, we're glad to hear that you so much enjoyed the views and food at Asara, but are sorry that you thought we were expensive.
