This accommodation preserves its rural nature with differing sized rooms situated around the property connected by a maze of paths. Our large room had all the amenities required and was a couple of minutes walk from the on-site restaurant. The menu was interesting and eclectic with friendly service. Overall a very pleasant experience far removed from the bland chain hotels

Fantastic venue and incredible organization went into organizing this event for us... Thank you De Opstal... Our wedding food was the best I've ever had at a wedding, the accommodation was super with a fireplace to set the tone. This place is visually so stimulating, undoubtedly one of the most beautiful places in South Africa oudtshoorn- Schoemanshoek Breakfast was average,...

Myself and my partner stayed here for one night when we were doing the garden route. It took a bit of getting used to. It was old fashioned but quirky. Evening dinner was fabulous, and staff were extremely friendly.. especially the women who attended us in the restaurant. She also gave us a good insight into the farm it used...

First impressions fairly good. Room generously proportioned but the atmosphere was weird, with girls' bridesmaids dresses hanging up and a pervading atmosphere of piety and religious condescension. Is this an Amish Centre? Very, very unsettling!! Paranormal activity? BBQ was absolutely awful!! Breakfast not much better. Dreadful overall. Avoid at all costs. This place is not a reflection of our superb...

We stayed one night whilst traveling on our Garden Route Tour. Lovely well kept grounds with a small pool, lodges are huge, clean, with all amenities, large bathrooms plus free wi fi. There was a large porch with sofa if you wanted to and had time to sit out and take in the surroundings..but didn't like opening the lodge door at...

Stayed here for only one night as part of our travels along the Garden Route. Didn't get here until dark so didn't appreciate the grounds or location until the next day. Some way out of Oudsthoorn so quite a trek if you wanted to explore the town (not that I know if anyone does, or what there is to do...

This hotel has separate lodges in large, beautifully landscaped, grounds. Our lodge had an enormous room, with a double and a single bed, large comfortable seating area with a fire, huge bathroom, private verandah with big fridge, and nice view, plus table and chairs at the bottom of our entrance chairs, giving a slightly different view. All very comfortable. We...

After four days here we could not understand why anyone would not review this place favourably. OK, it's not the Karoo Hilton. Instead it's a quaint, rambling lodge, converted from an 1830s farm. The grounds are interesting, with a small pool and a resident ostrich. We had a large bedroom, bathroom with excellent shower and a separate WC, plus a...

This hotel did not appear to be very full. At dinner there were our party of nine and six other guests. The hotel looks like it has had a shabby chic makeover. Our room was adequate, but is was only as we were going to bed that we were told that there was a fridge outside in a cupboard on...
