After a visit to the nearby Cango Caves we arrived here late afternoon for a 1 night stay.We were welcomed by the restaurant manager and the owner and shown to our room which was originally the milking shed. The room was spacious and clean and the bathroom had a separate shower and whirlpool bath. There was also a seating area with a...

Most reviews use the term quirky which I would agree with but all of my family found it to be our kind of quirky. We were in Cape Town prior to here and wanted a contrast which it was with its quiet rural setting and rustic charm. The staff were very helpful and welcoming e.g.the agents had sent through the...

We stayed here just one night and were disappointed we could not stay longer. The room we got, had a double bed and a single bed, a fireplace and lounge. It had loads of storage space and room to move in. The bathroom was large too and well appointed. We had dinner and breakfast here and both meals were very...

I don't understand how they can justify R220.00 for a buffet dinner! Total rip-off especially since there is no al carte option and should you want a smaller evening meal you have to travel into Oudsthoorn approximately 15km. As a Tourist Guide I would not use De Opstal - there are places is just as good and also quaint that...

Beautiful room and great buffet meal with a roaring log fire in the middle of the restaurant. It was a cool night and when we returned to our lodge, the staff had put a hot water bottle in our bed. Lovely touch!

Loved everything about this hotel, epsecially the fantastic service. We arrived mid afternoon and within an hour they had provided us with Sandwiches and took care of our laundry! Such a relaxing place and the food in the resteraunt was brilliant - loved the Ostrich steaks! Definately the place to go to for a relaxing countryside rest!

This accommodation preserves its rural nature with differing sized rooms situated around the property connected by a maze of paths. Our large room had all the amenities required and was a couple of minutes walk from the on-site restaurant. The menu was interesting and eclectic with friendly service. Overall a very pleasant experience far removed from the bland chain hotels

Fantastic venue and incredible organization went into organizing this event for us... Thank you De Opstal... Our wedding food was the best I've ever had at a wedding, the accommodation was super with a fireplace to set the tone.
