I spend a weekend overnight at Oudtshoorn and I highly recommend Paradise Backpackers based on below: 1. People – I had trouble with my car (another story so I don’t discuss it here) and Petra came to help withhesitation. Petra (the owner) was very understanding, funny and caring, I felt at home straight away. They helped me to settle in...

Great backpacker's located in a convenient place central to shops and town center. I liked this place because of the staff's involvement with its guests. Everyone was welcoming and all had great advice on what to see and do. I was a little bit disappointed at the high cost of the cycling tours but otherwise a very nice, clean and...

I used this Back Packers last time in 2008 and can say the overall venue is still as it was then, It is a clean and well kept accommodation, but all of this means nothing when the staff and management do not treat guest with basic courtesy and even just a little manners goes a log way. I have been...

A group of 11 of us booked for 2 nights stay at paradise backpackers. Firstly they complained that we were taking up too much parking space...we were on scooters so we probably took up a fifth of the space 11 paying guests would normally take. The barman Vickus, when he eventually arrived and stopped ignoring us, was so unfriendly and...

The owner and barman (Vikus) were so rude to our group in the bar at the back packers that we all decided to leave and socialize at a local restaurant. We asked the staff at the restaurant if they knew of the backpackers and they stated that they have heard numerous complaints about the unfriendliness of the owner. We later...

Myself and ten other mates were scheduled to stay here for two nights in September 2015. The treatment we received from the owner, management and bar staff were so bad we unanimously decided to check ourselves out the following morning and into the Oudtshoorn Inn the next day. The owner seemed to be more concerned with entertaining his own private...

Very good place to stay!!! Big and well equipped kitchen, super cozy lounge with a fire place, TV and sofas. Rooms are big and clean and the mattresses are really comfortable. Staff is very friendly and helpful also. Wifi works perfectly fine.

As ex-owners of a backpackers, we grab the opportunity to stay in touch and check out trends in the industry. Happily, it appears not much has changed, at least not in this fine establishment in the land of ostriches! Service was good, advice even better, and we had a lovely en-suite room upstairs in a gracious old Karoo mansion from...
