If you like green in your life then you should definitely book your holiday at Ekogaia. It is very well located, near Cape Town but not in the noisy city but in a natural landscape with lots of nature around you. Next to the cottage is a beautiful little village where you can buy superb food and a superb beach nearby. From here you can also do all kinds of excursions. The cottage was super with everything you need for a stay (with family or friends): good kitchen, separate bedrooms, lounge, terrace and BBQ. The 'green' owners are super friendly and helpful. I know one thing: if I go back to Cape Town I will stay there ...

We have just returned from a 2 week stay in the Spiral Cottage, the larger of the two cottages. Noordhoek is a very pretty, laid back part of Cape Town, and the cottage was in keeping with the area - not overpretentious, but very comfortable and well equipped. We really needed to escape from the hustle and bustle of city life, and Ekogaia fit the bill exactly. The views are stunning - even in bad weather the contrasts in sky and cloud against the sea and mountains were beautiful (and the weather can be pretty miserable in Winter in the Cape). The cottage itself is made with local materials, and a lot of thought has gone into small details that make the place special - pebbles pressed into the shower floor, a stargazing window above the main bed, solar heated water. The owners provided ground coffee, rusks and fresh fruit on arrival, which was a lovely touch. Noordhoek Farm Stall is an easy walk from the cottage, and they have a brilliant bakery and eatery, with excellent fresh coffee, cakes, pies and breakfast pastries. Pick 'n' Pay is a 5 minute drive away, so self-catering was easy. As for value for money, you can't go wrong here! Can't recommend enough.

We really enjoyed our one month (!) stay at ekogaia. Firstly, the setting is magic. Look out the door, and you can see the Atlantic Ocean breaking on the amazingly white and huge Noordhoek beach. Look from the back stoep, and you see dramatic mountains, with Noordhoek peak towering above. The cottage itself is very nicely done up, nice organic feel to it - but still with all the necessary creature comforts. We stayed in Helix cottage, and loved it. Lots of light, lots of air, probably nicely cool when its warm outside, and at least not freezing when it was cold. Noordhoek is a great place to have your base if you have some time to spend. We took our 6 month old daughter with us to South Africa for a month, and Ekogaia gave just the right sort of peace and relaxation we needed. We were dependent on a car, but then we had the city, false bay, cape point and - of course - the surrounding areas easily available. We walked up the two closest peaks, and the area is great for walking and hiking. Our hosts, Glenn and Colette were great. We mostly dealt with Glenn, and he was helpful, relaxed and friendly - the perfect hosts. Also, the price we got when staying for a full month, was excellent. Really good value! Just go there!

Our family of 5 stayed here in December 2010, just before peak season. the cottages are well located, within very easy walking distance to a delightful deli/bakery, for Sunday morning croissants! We stayed in the smaller of the 2 cottages as this was all that was available at the time, but the owner made sure we were comfortable. A lovely feature of this establishment is real coffee on arrival, and fruit and rusks are also complimentary, which I personally found to be a very nice touch. Noordhoek is a lovely area of Cape town, in close proximity to the beach, and the Chapman's Peak drive as well as Hout Bay's stunning beach. These cottages are not only eco-friendly, with a touch of class, but also great value for money!

My wife and I stayed for a week in Spiral Cottage last month, with two more friends from the UK joining us for the weekend, and it was an amazing experience. The cottage is constructed splendidly, with warm timber everywhere and loads of natural light. The setting is stunning, with dramatic mountain peaks all around (with clouds swirling around them when we were there) and then ocean views out front. The cottage has an amazing skylight over the bed, so you can star-gaze from it. And we loved waking up there so much, to a beautiful view of the mountainside, and tropical birds perched on the fern outside the window! Amazing powerful shower, really comfy beds. Glenn the owner couldn't have been more friendly and helpful. He built the cottages himself after living on the plot of land for years, so knew exactly how to craft them to make the best of the landscape and sun, and you can tell how much care has gone into them. The place is also brilliantly situated for getting easily into Cape Town central, as well as Simonstown and the Cape of Good Hope. We had a hire car and got around really easily. Plus some great restaurants nearby (Monkey Valley Resort was our favourite) and Noordhoek village has a great deli. I'm aware this review sounds like the owners wrote it themselves, but we genuinely couldn't recommend the place more highly! We've been raving about it to all our friends and family.
