Went as a group, the place was great very clean with free WiFi that worked very well. ordered a few drinks at the bar and they went down well. Apart from the pool that was very disappointing it was not cleaned and didn't look appealing at all.

I stayed for 5 nights in a 4 beds private room. It was the best decision for us, since we could arrive home late without disturbing anyone and lock all our things in the room during the day. The hostel is fairly clean considering the size of it. It has a nice area with a pool, pool table, bar and...

I stayed at Big blue for 4 nights and the day to check out couldn't have come any sooner. The entire hostel but especially the rooms were so insanely uncomfortably hot that I could barely sleep at night and if you even attempted to nap during the day that was a joke because you would just be drenched in sweat....

The rooms are decent size and clean. The team is very helpful in answering all your questions and suggesting some tours to do. The location is excellent too, with the VA Waterfront being just a 10 mins walk away

I'll start by saying I've stayed in hostels worldwide and have a good basis for comparison among properties. When I stay at hostels, my expectations are always tempered knowing that budget accommodations can be just that. But there's obviously room for difference, with some excelling and others not. Big Blue doesn't. My private room was spacious and clean, but to...

We have stayed at many backpackers while travelling South Africa and I can definately say we had our best nights rest at Big Blue. The beds are comfy, our room was big and breezy with huge windows. It is walking distance from the Waterfront and City Centre yet located in a quiet side street so that you can have a...

Places don't have to be modern and stylish to have some style. But here the only great thing was the old building and location the backpacker is placed in. The owner is constantly shouting at his stuff, the staff is being unfriendly towards guests, the bathrooms are dirty, out of soap all the time and the door in the ladies...

Big Blue is not a luxury hostel where you pay ridiculous amounts for a backpacker per night, but has rather a chill and comfortable environment with great vibes and people. Price-wise, it's best value for money in the area, but that doesn't mean the quality is inferior to some of the other hostels I've stayed at in Cape Town. The...
