Stayed for 3 nights in room 343. well decorated room with ocean view and partial mountain view . Check in was smooth thanks to Jameela at front desk. Breakfast was excellent but not as good as it use to be in 2016 when i first visited this property. Hotel is link with Victoria Wharf Mall with variety of food outlets. Top location on waterfront . Highly recommended.
This hotel is very upscale and quite a nice play to stay. The service is very good. The rooms are well equiped. The breakfast buffet is very good. The location is great for the waterfront area. The waterfront is easily in walking distance.
A grand entrance... a check in before a check in which was a new experience for me. Lovely walkway into the main hotel Very grand common areas and like a step back in time which is impressive but very formal and just not to my taste. Service at the front desk very professional and friendly. The girls joking with us which was a nice touch from the first impression of formality. High security to get into the lift area and then to your room with the key access which is fine just similar air of formality. Room along a long corridor. We noticed hall floors not clean dust and crumbs everywhere. Our door brass hadn't been dusted in a long time. Cracks in walls and light fittings. Our travel agent booked this hotel for us but I assume it was a standard room with views mostly over the marina with the fishing vessels. Decent size. Nice touch of the flowers on the table. We were also left bubbly, sadly the manager had mistaken the occasion to be our anniversary and not what was actually our honeymoon. The bathroom dated with cracks around the sink and floor. The taps dated and took a bit of adjustment for temperature. Some nice toiletries. Our tv remote didn't work. Spoke to someone on the phone and a porter came up. He brought another remote which worked momentarily. We didn't call again as we ended up going out anyway and didn't use it. The bed was very comfortable and the room quiet. Turndown service with the cards and chocolates a nice touch. Breakfast room very busy, we had to wait 10 minutes (which is relatively) a lot shorter than other reviewers have mentioned. Unfortunately we were rushed the first morning as we had the Robben Island tour booked and therefore had a rushed breakfast. There is everything you could possibly imagine on offer, though sadly nothing remarkable or stand out that I experienced in other hotels locally. Nice smoothies and any type of coffee you could ask for which were good. Most of the hot food in those large metal servers with hot water dripping off them which i find personally off putting. The staff all professional and efficient but a stretch to say friendly or that i felt that the service was particularly warm in hospitality. I don't know if my expectancy of etiquette in grandeur setting should have been different??? My greatest disappointment was housekeeping knocking on our door on day of checkout at 9am asking when we were departing! I appreciate turn over is stressful especially if the hotel is very busy but I don't think that is ever acceptable. Sadly at 10.40am again a knock came again to ask. We were just about to ring for a porter to take our bags down.. checkout is at 11am. Honestly I was quite annoyed being pushed in a 5 star hotel to depart early. We didn't use the leisure facilities so can't comment. Nor did we have dinner here. We did notice afternoon tea items on display in the lounge area and felt it odd they were set out in open air. All in all sadly met my expectations of a hotel with such promise and such a fantastic location but not meeting the grand 5 star opulence.…
The hotel is in a really nice location attached to the Mall which is very handy. we spent 4 nights there. Didn't have time to use the pool or the gym but they both looked OK. There was a lot of choice for breakfast but sadly it was often cold. The first day I asked for a poached egg and was pointed to the counter which had a tray of hard cold already cooked ones. They should teach the chefs to cook these at the stations as it is not very hard. The waiting staff were often hidden behind the coffee counter, on their phones. Two days running we had to go up and ask for a coffee and we also ended up clearing our table onto another, which you do not expect for this hotel. We rang reception twice to get a bottle of wine changed and it finally happened when we visited reception the following day. The rooms are fine but our sea view was actually just looking onto a load of trees, a higher level would have been better. All in all it was OK but if visiting again given the price I would try an different hotel.…
Some of the plus points : Great location , attached to a large mall , can take a walk across by the sea front or a walk in the evening near the VnA waterfront , many good restaurants outside the hotel with a very lively atmosphere. Breakfast at the hotel is excellent and the service is good. Now for some negatives: They first gave us a room on a lower level just facing a wall ! Since we were there for 4 nights with 2 rooms we requested for a change which they did for us after an hour. Room service is extremely slow . We asked for some wine glasses which came after 1/2 an hour. With no apologies when it finally arrived. When we called the housekeeping she just said that she had only one Butler !! That's a bit ridiculous in such a large and expensive hotel. Tea bags and creamers were not replaced everyday , Water bottles always had to be asked for only then they would send it. Nespresso machine didn't even work and all the water would just leak. The reception would take ages to answer the phone. However just to mention that the Concierge Mr Dane was excellent ! And he helped us plan a day outside the city when we could not go ahead with our itinerary due to the rain Overall a good hotel but overpriced .…
May 2022 - Four night stay. Location was the prime motivation for selecting the Table Bay Hotel. We were in Cape Town as first-time visitors and wanted a walkable location and the convenience of a huge shopping mall located next door (actually connected with an interior walkway). Our room selection was a Superior Luxury King and we had a beautiful corner room overlooking Quay #6 (where the seals hang out) and a spectacular view of Table Mountain. The hotel decor is‘understated’ luxury - nicely furnished room and public areas without pretentiousness. The reception staff was friendly and attentive. We enjoyed the daily breakfast buffet, especially the expresso beverages and cook to order omelette, and unlike many other reviews , we only had one weekend morning where our wait for a table was maybe five minutes. Understandably as the buffet is very popular with locals as well as guests. We did note that lines occurred as guests waited until nearly closing time to queue up. No problem for us. Very comfortable stay and appeared to be a very safe area. We walked the waterfront every evening, the Nelson Mandela Gateway was only a 5-10 minute walk, and the attached mall had many dining and shopping options, including a full service supermarket. Uber and taxis had no problems finding the property with Table Mountain Cable Car a 15 minute drive and the airport less than 25 minutes drive. Housekeeping service was very attentive and offered turndown service every evening. All staff encountered were friendly and efficient. Nice stay for us - YMMV. Enjoy the V&A Waterfront!…
We had a wonderful stay! Breakfast was amazing each morning. We had a family room with a view of the harbor. The hotel is connected to a shopping mall with lots of premier shopping. The hotel is in walking distance to lots of restaurants and attractions. Hotel staff was very friendly and our room was serviced appropriately everyday. The only downside is that the cost of the spa was almost as much as our 5-day stay in the hotel!
The check in experience was flawless and the rooms beautiful. The communal areas are stylish and the waiting staff very attentive to your needs. Breakfast was a feast and the concierge staff very helpful. What stood out was the friendliness and willingness to help shown by all the staff.
The Lux room is wonderful and the view amazing. The staff is very kind and caring up to a point. I really enjoyed my stay here and would come again if few things are solved in the meantime. The breakfast is not well organised, and the queue is very long. Yesterday my husband waited half an hour, then decided to go shopping in the meanwhile, came back, and the queue was still as long as before! He queued all together for 50 minutes to be placed. There are lots of tables free, just not anyone letting you in very soon. I had similar experience this morning and another quest complained to me about the same thing, so I guess it’s a standard here. If you decide to extend your stay for a day and have asked to keep the same room for that separate extra booking, be prepared to receive an angry call from a member of the staff asking you to leave after 12 pm when your original stay ends. Otherwise, a lovely hotel with the best view in town!…
At Breakfast. You had to ask for everything. Only one day was coffee offered when sat down. Super pleasant staff. Just not too attentive. sadly, you couldn’t even go in the pool. It was filthy dirty. Full of yellow stuff at the bottom of the pool
