I had an excellent stay at Scalabrini Guest House over New Year's (2011/12). The staff are friendly and helpful, and the facilities are great: clean, tidy, and simply but pleasantly furnished. I would recommend requesting a fan if you visit during the summer, as the rooms don't have great ventilation. It's within easy walking distance to the heart of downtown...

Staying at the Scalabrini Guest House made the week I spent in Cape Town (Dec. 12-19, 2011) even more enjoyable than it would otherwise have been. I liked everything about the place. My room was impeccably clean, bright, quiet and most tastefully appointed. Nathalie, Tara and Yvette, who run the guest house, are extremely friendly and always ready to help,...

November 2011: the four of us stayed there during 4 night to visit Cape Town and its surroundings, and we highly recommend this guesthouse for every possible reasons: great location, large rooms, very very clean, friendly staff, cheap rooms.... => everything you're looking for. It is a safe choice, you'll never regret it!

In November and December 2011 we stayed at Scalabrini Guesthouse at the beginning and end of our trip. We felt immediately at ease with the extremely friendly staff and the spotless clean room and the great communal kitchen. It is a lovely quiet spot in a big town and provided us with a really safe feeling - which is very...

I'd highly recommend staying at Scalabrini. I'm a grad student who came to Cape Town for work and to see the town over a week and was immediately impressed by the clean, comfortable accommodations. The single room included a wardrobe, desk, and a modern en-suite bathroom. The staff is very friendly and the self-catering kitchen is great. You can also...

Rooms are nice and very clean, staff is helpful, and you are in the middle of Cape Town - walking distance to all major sight seeings. Prices are low, and even so you can contribute to the wellfare projects of the centre. Self catering, but the kitchen is spacious, super-clean and well equipped. We really enjoyed our stay.

I booked five nights at Scalabrini Guest House based on the Lonely Planet guidebook recommendation. I worried a bit that I could only find five reviews on TripAdvisor for Scalabrini at the time I booked, but was assured to see that at least all the reviews were positive. I’m glad I have the opportunity to add to the positive reviews....

I came to Capetown for a conference and later some travel, so I stayed at Scalabrini for 8 nights. The people who run the place are nice and kind, the rooms are quiet high level, clean and neat. There's no breakfast included but there's a huge really good communal kitchen. Internet access if you have a laptop is only a...

We stayed 4 night in the Scalabrini Guest House. Very good, new clean rooms, big bathroom, direct access from fist floor to the guest house floor. Two supermarkets in walking distance (5 min) and 10 minutes from the Castle of Good Hope and Company Gardens. Shared kitchen where everybody can keep their stuff in the fridge. Great value for price

“The rooms that face Commercial Road are much better ... with partially obscured views of Table Mountain and Signal Hill. The ones at the back have windows high up, so less natural light and the view is of the backs of office buildings.”
