This is a very remote camp. The camp has only 4 tents and you do not have to go out to look for wildlife since the wildlife will come to visit the waterhole. The camp attendant keeps the place spotlessly clean and it is interesting to hear his stories. Bring your own food and drinks since there are no shops...

worth the visit - in the northern remote section of the reserve - very good area for game viewing - lots of predators in the area and various of the rare species can be seen around the camp. very comfortable canvas cabins, remote location and very private. staff very helpful and friendly thanks Sakkie - will definitely return - i...

Grootkolk is a great wilderness camp. Its remoteness, like Bitterpan, makes it an interesting place. It is supposed to have great game and we were just unlucky not to have seen lions and leopards when we were there. However we loved this camp. The rooms are well maintained. The only downside is the outside kitchen which can be challenging to...

Remote, small and a place you never want to leave! The solitude of the place is its charm. What better than to sit in your "enclosed yard" watching the animals coming and going to waterhole. The accommodation is basic and very comfortable. After months of "trying" we got one night at Grootkolk! Imagine our dismay when we discovered on arrival...

Grootkolk is for me the most beautiful of all the unfenced camps in the Kgalagadi.Far away from everywhere, no cellphone reception, wonderful sightings at the waterhole- an absolute must for the nature and animal lover. Please note that this is NOT a hotel. It is one of a few of the unfenced camps in the Kgalagadi Transfrontier Park on the SA...

We managed to book 2 nights all previous visits it's been booked out so we felt extremely lucky and made my birthday extra special. We were lucky to have Gemsbok. Hyena and Lion in camp with lots of birds. I loved the ranger had thought about a water bath for the birds we topped it up & had plenty come...

This self catering wilderness camp is in the Kgalagadi Trans-frontier National Park is not in Upington as the listing would suggest. It is in a remote area of the park and very good for game viewing with an illuminated waterhole in front of the accommodation units. The accommodation units are well equipped and comfortable with solar lighting and gas hot water...

We did not like Grootkolk as there were problems during our two nights there. We spent a night either side of our stay at wonderful Gharagab. The first night Franco was the camp attendant. Well, he must have had a bad day as he was very unfriendly and miserable. So unlike the attendants at all the other wilderness camps. The...

This was our 3rd visit to Grootkolk and yet again amazing. Actually all of the Wilderness camps that Sanparks operate are tuely special. We saw plenty of game on our gamedrives in the area and at night the floodlit waterhole in front of the camp revealed wonders: both nights lion came to drink, a leopard and a brown hiena came...

Another Wilderness Camp from SanParks. Contrary to Gharagab, which is even more remote but needs 4x4, Grootkolk can be reached by Sedan (2x4 car), with normal bottom clearance. Again only 4 units, you have to book well in advance. On Early morning und evening game drives you are mostly alone on the road. There is a waterhole, which can be...
