We (family of 4) stayed here earlier this month (Apr 18). Can't recommend it highly enough. Ashbourne itself is charming -a real labour of love. But it was the warm welcome (from Rob's A-grade daytrip tips to Dawn's assistance when an owl made an unexpected...More

Thank you Ana, for this lovely review.
It was such a pleasure meeting you and yours, and I hope our lives cross again in the not too distant future.

SimonRHalifax hit the nail on the head. I would add that the Lowveld offers more than just Kruger (which gets a bit boring after the 1000th or so rooibok). Checking with Rob or Dawne at Ashbourne is a good idea. There are many unexplored / unheralded but interesting things to do and see besides animals. Go wild yourself with the ability to change plans, so drive yourself after you've learnt to avoid the potholes.
