I would not suggest staying in Olifants if you value tranquility, privacy and space. If you can't get a large cottage over looking the river I'd suggest giving this camp a miss. The fridge was off on our arrival which was not consistent with the other camps and is a problem when self catering and driving around the park.

Great views high atop the cliff overlooking the river. Easy to find a located mid park (north south). If you leave early from the southern gates, one can make it to Olifants with good viewing by gate closing.

Olifants camp provided a stunning view at every part of the camp. Amazing river views. If possible, do food shopping before heading there as it's remote and the shop doesn't offer that much. Unfortunately no coffee and tea is provided in the Rondavels so you have to go to the Mug and Bean that's there or buy from the shop....

My best tip for here is to reserve a perimeter cottage! The views are spectacular. From our room we heard a male lion warning other male intruders of his presence near the river bed.No Mugg & Bean here, but the restaurant is pretty excellent. Petrol station and convenience store are located here as well. This camp was my favorite out...

We stayed here 12 years ago and wanted to try it again. The chalets are the same. We stayed in number three and it is on the hill immediately to overlooking the river. It's also close to the restaurant. There is a good size refrigerator in it as well as an outdoor kitchen. There is a ceiling fan and air...

We stayed here in November in a rondavel on the perimeter of the camp. The views were stunning, overlooking the Oliphants river. There wasn't much water flowing but what there was certainly attracted the game. At first glance you would think there was nothing about but with time to look, listen and watch we saw Hippo, Waterbuck, Impala, Giraffe and...

Well located above the Oliphants River with stunning views. Reception have an award for their service and they were definitely very efficient and helpful. The rondavel was a bit tired, but clean and adequately spacious. The restaurant was a big disappointment. Service was slow. They hadn't got any of the wines on the list, most of the cocktails were unavailable...

Pros: Very good value. This camp has quite a scenic overlooking the river where you can spot animals below. The huts are well maintained. Service at the restaurant was pretty slow but generally good food. Region is probably quite green and scenic in wet season when it's not super dried out by drought. Cons: Severe drought meant sightings weren't as...

I'm not a huge fan of central Kruger (I think the north and south are better), but if you're transiting between the two, Olifants makes a good night stay. The slightly-higher priced perimeter rondevals (with kitchen facilities and views) and significantly better than the regular accommodations, but they're much harder to book (everyone knows they're better). Note that there's nice...

This is by far the best rest camp I stayed at/visited while in Kruger (I went to 7 so I'm comparing it to a lot of them!) The huts were nice, and the view over the Olifants river was unbeatable, especially at sunrise when herds of elephants were crossing. HIGHLY SUGGEST the morning walk. The guides took us onto the...

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Guests that visit Olifants will be exposed to an unforgettable window of Africa. The camp is situated a top a hill which towers several hundred feet over the Olifants river. Views from the lookout platforms allow one to see the river below, just as a soaring eagle would survey it, as it hunts from the skies. ... more   less
