I stayed for two nights with my wife and son just before the new year. My son is 22 and booked this location especially for its wild location beside the very large watering hole (lake) and for the unique access to the animals at this watering hole. There are only five chalets here and we had two of them. I...

We had a fantastic wildlife experience at Camp Shawu. The comfortable, eco-friendly Lodge blends well into the bush and is designed to enable one to see and hear the animals at close quarters day and night, as it overlooks a huge waterhole. The Lodge and its chalets allow the visitor to constantly watch a large variety of animals coming down...

We stayed at Camp Shawu for 2 nights after 2 nights at Camp Shishangeni. The luxury tents are right on the water and from your private deck you can see the wild life coming for water. The resident Hippo are real charachters and the noises they make intermittently, are quite hilarious. At the main lounge/restaurant meals are prepared on a...

When we booked our original arrangements to visit Camp Shawu (a satellite camp of Shishangeni Lodge), through a travel company, Siyabona, we made arrangements for the weekend of August 9th to 11th. Between two and three weeks after making those arrangements we were advised that the room at Shawu had been given away but we could be accommodated at Shishangeni...

Myself ,husband and two teenage/adult daughters stayed here for four days for a safari package recently. The setting is out of this world on the river where hippos live, the accomodation is perfect for the setting and allows you to sit on the decking and see every species come to drink throughout the day. The staff are friendly and helpful and...

We have just arrived from Shawu. We spent 5 nights there and we will never forget the nights with the hippos. The staff is fantastic (thank you Daniel and team!!!) and the game rangers (Simon, Dixon, Leonard, Victor and Maporo) are professionals and did great jobs. We saw the big five and so many animals. We flew into Nelspruit, picked up a rental car and drove to Camp Shawu. The drive was pleasant, and cannot be avoided. The formality at entering the Kruger National Park was very easy and straight forward completing one form per family and paying a small fee of R124. We then drove onto Shishangeni Lodge, where we registered for Camp Shawu....

My wife and I spent just two nights at Camp Shawu in Spetember 2013, and it was amazing! For our first safari we were looking for something classic, canvas, Hemingway... And we wanted to split the trip between Kruger and Sabi Sands to increase our chances of seeing a leopard. For Kruger we researched several camps and thanks to Chrisna...
