This is our third time to Satara and still our favorite of all the rest camps that we have tried. The family bungalows are very comfortable and private. The drive from Satara to Oliphants is always good for viewing plenty of game. Although we were a little tired of Mugg & Bean at every rest stop, this particular branch was...

The camp is situated in the best viewing areas for game, we saw it all! Unfortunately bad management, the trying to removed the in the days come rondavels. Why not doing once and it is finished! The shop is well stocked and debonair so pizza with mug and be a is doing a great job.

This camp just set on an open grassy plain with all the chalets set out in circular lines like the way wagons pulled up for the night in the wild west (and a bit reminiscent of the blood river battlefield monument in nearby Zululand!). The chalets are single units spaced apart enough for good privacy and were clean and comfy...

Having read many of the reviews here I think some people need to remember this is not a lodge with five star service - this is what we call in Australia 'glamping' one level above camping. We had a family hut with two bedrooms and two bathrooms and a kitchen lounge in the middle. All clean and tidy but a...

Again, basic accommodation in a circle. The cottage had all we needed and was close to the restaurant, which was the best within the Park. Staff were excellent and the limited menu was served hot and well. In fact we stopped here a couple of times during our 5 days because the service was so good and the food always...

Very disappointed with this camp, our sheets were dirty, room was dark and in need of serious updating, if I had a choice I would have left, but it's miles to go!! Please be aware this is very very basic and you have to have strong constitution to put up with this level of amenities . It's like camping but...

From the moment you stop in the parking area, you know that this is the camp to be staying at. Cannot explain why, but this camp just have this feeling about it. The reception staff is very welcoming and friendly. The shop is well stocked with a big variety of groceries. The chalets is spacious, well maintained, neat with all...

When we went to our room our toilet was clogged. Seriously clogged. So I tried getting the receptionist to call someone. I watched her call the maintenance crew. When I returned to my room after a sunset drive the toilet had not been fixed even though we could see someone had come into our room. The receptionists are rude and...

We visited Satara after not being able to get reservation there for some years. The camp is superbly run and so well maintained. The circles are large enough to give privacy but still see other fires. The night drive was superb and we saw such spectacular sightings.

Excellent campsite for families and larger groups. Try to get a perimeter spot, so that you can animal spot from the comfort of your camp chair at night. Take an awning / shade option with you as there are very few trees / shaded camps. Facilities clean and maintained, if old. Pleasantly peaceful for such a large campsite. Bungalows are...

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Satara is a busy camp, and not without reason. It is situated in an excellent game viewing area, with the bush relatively open and the animals plentiful and diverse. The camp itself has a rustic charm, with the bulk of the accommodation set out in a series of circles. Satara is well wooded and the bird-life is prolific. At night the clink of fruit bats is fused with the chirping of cicadas and crickets. The calls of owls and nightjars add to the symphony that is punctuated intermittently by the whoop of hyena, the screech of jackal and the roars of lion. ... more   less
