Lower Sabie graces the banks of the Sabie River, one of the few perennial rivers to flow through the Kruger National Park. Visitors cannot but feel soothed by the view towards the river and the Lebombo Mountains beyond. In this rest camp, the bounty and plenitude of nature are very evident, eloquently symbolised by the most conspicuous of its numerous trees, the mighty sycamore fig, which provides generously for the livelihood of many birds and insects. Not only do these giants produce fruit at least twice a year, but different trees produce fruit at different times, extending the gifts of life over many months. Watching the endless procession of animals coming to drink at the Sabie River establishes a sense of one's own place in the eternal cycle.

The only reason we come here is because of location to some of the best wildlife sightings in the park. The campsites are on the small side, very busy and depending on the consideration of your neighbors, noisy. Many campers encroach on others sites. Food at the restaurant is ok. Mugg and Bean is the vendor. Nice camp store with a good variety of foods, meats and vegetables. Camp receptions is not as friendly here as in smaller camps.

We booked 5 nights (in July 20) in different locations of Kruger park. Due to COVID-19 (our booking were done long before the pandemia begun), travels were cancelled, as we all know. We have been contacting Sunparks for refunding these nights (approximately once per month) since then, but today we have not received any refund. They change the contanting person (and e-mail address) for refundings from time to time, and ask repeatedly to fill/submitt the same forms again and again, and in the last months they even not answer. We are very disappointed with sunparks, they don't seem like formal people. Of course, we will not book anything with them again in the future.

The two bed chalet that we stayed in was absolutely disgusting. We had no choice to stay as we were told that the camp was fully booked. The entire chalet reeked of bat urine and their droppings were everywhere on the veranda the next morning. A bad effort had been made to seal the openings between the walls and the thatch the result of which were very dirty walls. The handle on the toilet door was missing and the shower cubicle was moldy and dirty. The toilet water supply tap did not work. The blanket on the bed also had dirty stains and one of the bedside tables had sticky patches that had not been cleaned. All in all a very unpleasant experience!

We stayed at Lowe Sabie rest camp in a LBVST2 (SAFARI TENT - BUSH VIEW) and it was really not worth it. Very old bathrooms, very little (not hot) water from the shower. The kitchen needs an upgrade. And rather go for a river view than a bush view to at least get something out of it. The view is nice. The mugg and bean on the property did not seem to be great either, again the view from the deck is so nice, just a little bit more effort needed at the restaurant like again cleaning up after customers left. Take down the old Stanchions etc.

We as a family made a reservation at this holiday spot in the park. After learning that we would have to leave the park a day early because of the covid tests before we left, they cancelled the reservation one last night before we left. They withdrew the money for the reservation the minute we made the reservation. We had correspondence about refunds for half a year and eventually they stopped responding at all. The sum is not insignificant and they are not going to refund it. We wrote a complaint to the Ministry of Tourism and are waiting for answers. Do not book your overnight stay here. It is uncomfortable, expensive and they don't respect their guests.
