We just returned from 2 nights at Tamboti, and once again, we loved our stay!!! We stayed in one of the luxury "tents", which has an en suite bathroom, comfortable double bed, fully stocked kitchen and wonderful view. I would recommend this accommodation for anyone looking for a slightly more private, romantic and authentic bush experience! The honey badgers visit...

We spent 3 nights here. The tents which are classed as luxury are showing wear and tear and damage by baboons. They are comfortable but have passed their sell by date and should be replaced.Hot plates not working so everything was prepared on the braai.Beautiful shady trees and great views of the river.Hyenas and Honey badgers spotted close to fence and lions...

Tamboti is a lovely self-catering, rustic location. It is not luxurious and never pretended to be. For what you pay you get a lovely, basic tent (we booked the ones with the ablution and kitchen facilities, which were very satisfactory) with a deck overlooking the river bed. Each tent is mostly hidden away and you don't tend to notice the...

Spent 2 nights here with check in at Orpen Camp and stayed in a luxury tent with ablutions. You're in the bush in a satellite camp, which we were looking really forward too. There's no reception area and the camp was quite empty when we were there, so there's no-one around. Perfect. Us and the bush. The tents are great!...

Have now stayed twice at Tamboti and loved the experience both times. Tents are basic but clean (we booked three 2-bed tents which were brand new, and one 3-bed luxury tent). Sit on tent deck and enjoy visits from small mammals, like genets and monkeys, or walk around the camp to view stunning birds. Listen to call of lions and...

Tamboti Camp - What can I say - this is an amazing camp with self catering tented cabins overlooking the Tamboti River. Sitting on the Patio you can hear the sounds of the animals with a resident Baboon Troop living in the tree on the other side of the River Bed. We were treated to a Leopard Sighting whilst driving...

One of the best bush experiences. The visits from the honey badgers were my highlight. The simplicity of the camp. The night sounds. A wonderful experience - booked again for September 2016. If you love the bush book and enjoy.

Much is made of camping in the bush. You hear sounds better, you feel more excited because you are less protected, tents in the African bush place the rush of city and job further away than if you were behind walls. Tamboti satellite camp gives you there 'extras' in Kruger without the hassle of putting up your own tent. Ablutions...

The Kruger National Park is beautiful. The bush, the wildlife all wonderful. But the bestest best way to enjoy it is to sleep in a comfortably equipped tent .... it just feels right! You have everything you need, or would have in a cement room, but the birds sound sweeter, the night noises louder and you wake up feeling thoroughly...

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Tamboti tented camp is a small camp situated on the banks of the Timbavati River, on the western boundary of the Kruger National Park, approximately 2km east of Orpen Rest Camp. Due to the size and location of this camp, Tamboti is one of the most popular camps in the Park. A great feature is a boma, which makes it ideal for small groups of people to gather around the campfire and relive the animal sightings of the day. For the birding enthusiasts, Tamboti offers a bird hide in which to spend hours looking for that exclusive raptor that has up to now eluded you. The natural bush feeling is kept inside the camp, which has the result of emphasizing guest privacy. ... more   less
