We stayed in a 6 sleeper. All was great. Everything worked. Restaurant had a great view but the food was a let down. Had steaks that the steak knife struggled with. Only 2 waiters and the place was half full. They tried hard but couldn't...More

Mopani camp is in the northern half of the Kruger National Park and is one of the newer camps, named after the ubiquitous mopane shrub found in this part of the park. Unlike the other camps with their carefully manicured grounds and neat rondavels set...More

The unit was ill equipped. Not to the standard as the other camps in the park. Blankets were filthy, toilet was hideous, shower was not functioning properly. Bar service was non existent. The lower lookout viewing area was absolutely filthy. Really a disappointing visit.

That's some 210 kilometers, and over 4.5 hours driving. In Kruger this is a very long distance, as you cannot drive fast. So it depends on your arrival time whether you can reach Mopani before gate closure.

Our cottage has been booked for several months but we were told that we could not book a specific location prior to our arrival and sites were allocated on a 'first come first served' basis. Can someone please confirm if this is true or not? On reading the 'room tips' it would seem that a site overlooking the dam is the one most preferable and I wondered if there were any way I could secure one prior to our arrival. As we will not be arriving at the camp until the late afternoon the 'first come first served' basis would not work for us. Any help would be appreciated.

The units overlooking the Dam have a 'v' in their description - eg BD4V or FF6V. These units cost a little more than those without the Dam view and get booked up quickly. Perhaps that is why you were told that they are... More
