The Letaba campsite in the middle of the Kruger National Park is one of the prettier camps with a long riverside frontage overlooking the Letaba River. Overnight huts and cottages are arranged in the Kruger Park circles with mature trees providing much needed shade. Birds fly all around the camp and it is easy to take engaging photos of the...

First time we've stayed at Letaba and would definitely return.we stayed in a cottage sleeping 6. It had full kitchen facilities and was very comfortable. It's a stunning part of the park and really is the best value for money you can get for a safari experience. You can spend a whole lot more to experience Kruger and if you...

Stayed here recently, and I quite enjoyed it. The campsite has cute, semi-tame bushbuck and beautiful views of the river. The room wasn't the best we've stayed in (broken toilet) but I think the others in the camp were in better condition. There's also a restaurant in the camp overlooking the view. It's not excellent, but good for drinks at...

We had been here on a previous occasions a few years ago. The camp site has improved considerably. The reception was efficient, friendly and quick and without the reams of paperwork found at some sites. The reception areas was well designed and in a thoughtful way and the staff helpful and very friendly. The room was a high standard with...

I stayed one night at Letaba during my recent trip, which was the first time I headed north of Satara. It's not my favourite camp but I would stay again. Good points: 1. Love the tame Nyala in camp! They are so cute, and we also saw a genet outside our room in the evening. 2. Camp has Mugg &...

Reception staff were friendly, efficient and helpful in changing our booking (in fact all staff we had contact with were friendly and helpful) The accommodation is clean and well maintained. It is a great bonus that the units are serviced everyday. (Do leave a tip for the ladies) The wildlife roaming the camp makes this a pleasant tranquil experience.

This is a good spot to stay to see elephants and other big game. The rooms are adequate and some rooms have game viewing from the porch. We were there during a very slow season for them so we could sit at the restaurant and have excellent bird watching opportunities and some decent game viewing as well. The elephant museum...

Letaba was perhaps my favourite of all the camps we have stayed at in Kruger over the course of 4 visits spread out over 20 years. Great and v interesting elephant museum. Touching to see bios/photos of the great tuskers - less so the part on "how to kill an elephant" ... but all very well done and informative. The...

Many of the rondavels are being upgraded with a paint job and new mattresses. The mostly have working air con which is important most of the year. Letaba is distinctive from other camps because it has a nice herd of antelope living within the camp as well as plenty of vervent monkeys that will raid your car if you leave...

Spent a night here on a 4 day trip in the park. Rooms were clean and spacious although a bit dated, but no one is really there to spent time in the rooms. Ate at Mugg and Bean and highlight at Letaba were the bats daily routine of leaving their roost on the side of the restaurant. You got a...

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
The idyllic Letaba Rest Camp is situated on a sweeping bend of the Letaba River, midway between the southern and northern boundaries of the Kruger National Park. The name means "river of sand", and the sandy riverbed is an excellent location for game viewing, particularly elephant, which thrive in the area. Letaba is a green oasis in the surrounding mopane veld, and remains a firm favourite with visitors. At night the stars overlook a symphony of sounds. Owls, nightjars, frogs, fruit bats, crickets and cicadas all vie to be heard, until the lion roars, then all are silent. ... more   less
