Why does one go camping in the bush. This is a rhetorical question really. The noise and music from Letaba staff village is unacceptable. This is not Sun City. However a National Park where people plan in a years advance to enjoy some rest and hear the sounds of the bush at night. I can't understand why the duty manager...

We stayed at Letaba after doing the Olifants wilderness trail, and whilst Letaba remains a firm favourite given its location and surrounds, the noise coming from the staff village was quite unacceptable! Many people complained to the camp manager, who said he was looking into it. Two hours later - still screaming, singing and drumming. And this is not the...

We recently stayed in the Fish Eagle Guest House for 3 nights. The pure size of this guest house blew our minds. It has an open plan dining room as well as TV-room. The large kitchen also had a pantry with space to pack your non perishables away plus two double door fridge/freezers. The rooms are not directly linked to...

This accommodation is for people that would like to spoil themselves with stylish, clean and self catering accommodation in Letaba. Four well equipped rooms on suite close to the lounge area with leather lounge suite, dinning area, a thatched...

But I didn't see much animal when I went for night safari and drives around. Though I saw many elephants and envelopes giraffes. I saw more animals when I drove from letaba to burg en...

Letaba is still one of those magic places on earth! The camp reserved it's old time charm with all the modern facilities needed. Well maintained, clean and excellently situated along the beautifull Letaba river with lots of routes to see a wide variety of animals. The camp site really make this camp with a very special ambiance.

Perfect staging ground for a family trip to the Kruger National Park. Rondawels are clean, well appointed. There are bushbuck that wander around the camp and are great to see up close. Well stocked camp shop and camp arranges walking tours ad game drives daily. Booking essential.

We planned on staying in a one bedroom cottage, but could not get one. This was opportune as all the two bedroom cottages have a view towards the river. The camp is clean and tidy, as were our rooms. We had a spaceous lounge and kitchen area, two bedrooms, two bathrooms and an outdoor, under cover veranda with tables and...

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
The idyllic Letaba Rest Camp is situated on a sweeping bend of the Letaba River, midway between the southern and northern boundaries of the Kruger National Park. The name means "river of sand", and the sandy riverbed is an excellent location for game viewing, particularly elephant, which thrive in the area. Letaba is a green oasis in the surrounding mopane veld, and remains a firm favourite with visitors. At night the stars overlook a symphony of sounds. Owls, nightjars, frogs, fruit bats, crickets and cicadas all vie to be heard, until the lion roars, then all are silent. ... more   less
