An awesome destinatioon, fresh country soroundings along the Umzimkulu river. The kids loved the outdoors, and the many activities on offer, the games room was a hit. Our host was most obliging and we felt right at home. We had a great Trout for dinner at the Lodge Dininig Room which is cosy and romantic.

Spent 2 nights at the lodge, location was sublime with river frontage and 100% privacy. The Bower suite was definitely as expected, quaint and romantic. We are definitely looking forward to another visit to Umzimkulu river lodge. The staff were all very friendly and well spoken.

This was our third year in a row that we visited Umzimkulu River Lodge for my Lennie's birthday. We just love this venue & keep coming back & in particular Bower cottage. The cottage is comfortably equipped & we love the private deck so close to the river with beautiful views. We also love the sound of the river, the peace...

This place is reasonably priced and very peaceful, but there are plenty of things for children and adults to do. We enjoyed tubing and swimming in the river, doing the short hike along the river and playing all the games in the games room. The cottage we stayed in (Mangrove) was so pretty and made us feel right at home....

We very much liked the hot breakfast and the beautiful landscape around the accomodation. Also the owners gave us very valuable information for our excursions. Even though we got an upgrade to the "Honeymoon Suite", our impression was that the room could need some renovation, also the price for the breakfast (approx. 90 ZAR) was compared to other accomodations too...

We spent a couple of days in this very nice cottage. Despite the rainy weather we enjoyed staying in the little cottage and were thankful for the complementary wood so we could make a good fire in the woodburner to warm the room. You can either cook your self or enjoy a meal in the restaurant on the estate.

We were a group of 11 so hired the Giant House. This log cabin with 6 bedrooms is set apart from the others overlooking the river. It is very well appointed with everything you need and is serviced. House has 3 bedrooms with en suite bathrooms. There were braai facilities on the deck and out back. Good base for functions...

Owners are excellent hosts and would thoroughly recommend Umzimkulu River Lodge. It was great that we were able to take our dog with us and not leave him in a kennel. Beautiful setting and accommodation was great.
