We began our trip in Capetown, took Rovos Rail to Pretoria, then flew to Richards Bay & were picked up by a delightful ranger from Zulu Nyala. As we entered the reserve, there was an enormous Python in the tree at the entrance gate. On our way from there to the lodge we saw giraffes, nyalas & impalas. We were...

Executive Summary: 1) Go, but don't spend any more money. 2) Three nights here is enough, even though the guides are fantastic. 3) If you've bid a lot, re-negotiate for room upgrades, extras, or add more guests. 4) Book three nights at a nearby Phinda lodge, but only AFTER you stay at Zulu Nyala. 1) If, like most guests, you've...

The arrival was promising with a warm welcome from the front desk, but then it just went downhill. The room was big enough, the beds were uncomfortable, the bathroom was dirty, with a leaking toilet, and the furniture was falling apart. Poolside offered broken loungers with dirty cushions. The food was appalling, virtually inedible, with the same salads and cheese...

Like all the Americans we met, we had bought this through a charity auction at home. It was well worth it! The rooms were nice, the hotel was beautiful and spacious. The food was delicious. The service outstanding and friendly; everybody from the front desk (I think his name was Promise) to the staff at the restaurant--and the cleaning staff....

I bought a 6 night photo Safari for the Zulu Nyala Game Lodge in South Africa. The charity was a good cause and i do not begrudge the money but if this is your first African Safari or you are experienced, do not go to this place, it is really bad. The estate is too small to support any numbers...

My husband and I just returned from an amazing stay at Zulu Nyala Game Lodge. It met our expectations in every way and began a dream vacation in the beautiful country of South Africa. After reading many Tripadvisor reviews, we were apprehensive about the rooms at the lodge. After several emails back and forth with the lodge we were told...

This was our first safari and an fantastic experience. Deon, our guide, was excellent, finding the animals, getting us up close, educating us all the time. He made the experience special. Because the reserve is small, you get a sense of getting to know the animals after seeing them a few times, especially the elephants. The recommended side trips were...

Summary: Awesome experience. Reaan was a great guide, driver and good friend teaching us a lot. Staff were very nice, especially the restaurant staff. Enjoy at least one early morning safari and one night safari. Half way through hope you booked a drive at the nearbye larger safari. Easy drive from Richard's Bay, you can do it on your own,...

Great time at Zulu Nyala Game Lodge!!! If you can, try to stay in the rooms 11,Honeymoon Suite, or 12-20, rooms surrounding the pool. These rooms all have a fabulous view as the Lodge is located on top of the mountain, (hill by most). These rooms are also much nicer than the other rooms. Pool is not heated but not...

I spent a lot of time reading reviews of Zulu Nyala so I hope this is helpful for anyone considering a trip there! Pre-trip: - We won this at an auction through my husband's work, we had read the reviews, we feel like we came adequately prepared for what to expect, we visited a few other safari-type places for short...
