Great stay at the Protea Hotel Edward. The "Family room" is a bit small with 2 double beds in the same room, but besides that, the friendly staff and location made up for it! Hope to see a gym soon at the hotel.

Too much noise from streets due to window that cannot shut properly. Location remains good. Broken cupboard door also shows that maintenance isn't done regularly. Safe has wrong instructions on it and had to call technician twice to help!

This is an older property with wonderful architecture. Ideally situated on the promenade, Ushaka World is a close 30 minute walk. The staff were courteous, the rooms were large with old world charm and plenty of wood finishes. I would ask for a room overlooking the waterfront as the large picture windows that open up are an excellent way to...

We had a brief stay at Protea Edward, but I wouldn't stay anywhere else in Durban! The food was very good, and portions were generous. The hotel has modern amenities although the historical design has been retained; the room was very nice. The location was ideal, so I had a pleasant early morning stroll. The most outstanding feature was a...

Poor selection of food in a buffet and very small changes from day to day. The bar closes early in the evening. Rooftop swimming pool cannot be used after 6.00 pm. Good location. Nicely styled and furnished. Clean.

After having a horrible stay at the "5 Star" Durban Hilton hotel I checked into the Protea Hotel Edward. The hotel offers secure parking located in the basement. I received a lovely warm welcome.
