We had the whole family (three generations, 10 people) for a birthday dinner. Wonderful setting and definitely worth taking your glass of wine and strolling in the Garden before dinner. With a lovely view of one end of Table Mountain and lush gardens with a few large tortoises to keep you company.. The service was great and there were no...

We stayed for 4 nights and it was perfect. The room was spacious, the bathroom amazing, and the service was lovely. We had a courtyard facing room, and thoroughly appreciated the quiet environment. The restaurants and room service had a great mix of 'plain' food (perfect for jetlagged people!) and the richer, more fancy dishes. Breakfast in the dining room...

We arrived from the UK and were given our room shortly after arrival. We had booked a 'mountain view' room and everything about the room was ideal for us. Breakfast was very good and the grounds are worth the visit on their own. Close to Kirstenbosch Garden which is a 'must visit' place. A great start to the holiday.

My wife and I finished our SA adventure with 4 nights at the Vineyard Hotel. Having stayed mostly at small, boutiquey hotels during our safari and Garden Route trip, we were a bit unaccustomed to the larger, more impersonal feel of a larger hotel, at first. But once we acclimatised, we really loved being at the Vineyard Hotel. All the...

Staying here was like turning back the clock in history - a real colonial hotel. It's beautifully situated in magnificent gardens shared by no less than 6 giant tortoises. Sitting out on the terrace sipping a cold glass of South African's best was luxury indeed ! The hotel is not only popular for tourists but also locals, so it is...

Great food, grounds, facilities, rooms, and staff! Wonderful place to stay if you're visiting Cape Town. I especially loved the gardens. The doormen at the front of the hotel were lovely and always extremely helpful and full of smiles. The ladies hosting and serving at breakfast were delightful. Thanks for your hospitality.

This is a stately hotel with all the finest details taken care of. Wonderful staff, well appointed rooms, beautiful breakfast, and well stocked bar. You feel like you are a special guest and nothing is too much trouble.

The first room we stayed at was pretty average then they moved us to a newly renovated version of same room classification. Power cuts in the middle of the night after which all lights aircon and beside alarm go off. Breakfast great. Tortoises are very cool. Only real complaint is that the "vineyard" aspect of the hotel is lacking. The...

There are lots of positives here: the staff are great, the food in The Square very good, amazing breakfasts, a good-sized pool and a superb garden. Service in the bar is poor but that was not enough to knock off a star. We stayed four nights and returned a few days later for another one. We were greeted like old...

I don't know why I was somewhat surprised by the size and scale of this hotel. May be I did not pay attention and just saw the photo and formed the opinion from the main photograph that it was boutique which was our criteria for selecting it . Nevertheless it was quite nice and did have some charm in the...
