We came to Joburgh for business and stayed 3 nights. The hotel is perfect for that purpose, located in a very safe compound gives easy access to nice shops and restaurants, walking in the area is pleasant and the hotel is very well kept. The rooms are large and pleasant. The staff is helpful. It makes it a very good...

We traveled to South Africa for the first time going first to Cape Town and then to Tangala Safari Camp in the Thornybush reserve. We planned a day to "decompress" in Johannesburg before the long flight back. We selected the African Pride Melrose Arch Hotel in large part because we are Marriott Rewards participants and we had points. We really...

Stayed for 2 nights. The room is nice but probably close on 15 years old now and looking tired. Complained 3 times about bed, nothing done. King size bed is 2 singles pushed together but no sheet to stick the 2. So beds kept separating at night. Service at pool non existent, took 2 hours to get food and drinks....

After hours of travel from the US, we arrived at the African Pride and were greeted by the loveliest and most accommodating staff. They did all the thinking for us. We took advantage of their car service for visits to the Apartheid Museum and Constitution Hill. The concierge was very helpful and the drivers were very professional. It cost more...

Melrose Arch is a "self-contained" community in Johannesburg, meaning it is a gated community with its own security. The complex includes retail (think shopping mall)' residential (apartments), hotels (2), cafes and restaurants, and services (e.g., health care). Needless to say, but I'll say it anyway, the area is Upscale. The African Pride property in Melrose Arch is likewise Upscale. It...

Visited this hotel last year on Business. Facilities are great and the staff lovely. They could not do enough to help everyone. The area around the hotel is also quiet, safe and clean. The local shopping area will keep you occupied for a few hours and the cafes and restaurants serve good food. Definitely worth a try!

I stayed at this hotel for one night while I was preparing to head the Kruger for safari the next day. It's in a great part of town and there are several bars/restaurants and even a comedy club nearby. On occasion we came back to the hotel to find complimentary champagne at the front desk which was a nice touch....
