My family and I spent a week here last week, it is an old Victorian school house converted into a fantastic small hostel 3 (1 x 4 bed, 2 x 6 bed) rooms downstairs and 4 (2 x 2 bed and 2 x 4 bed) upstairs. The hostel is kept very clean and welcoming. During most of our week it...

This was our first stop walking the Pembrokeshire Coast Path having walked from St Dogmaels. The hostel is very close to the path which is on the estuary giving bird watchers an opportunity to spend time there. There is plenty of parking. The staff gave us a very warm greeting and were very happy to look after our bags whilst...

NOT IN NEWPORT NEAR CARDIFFF!! Located in a large village, with shops, pubs, cafes etc so plenty of places to shop for food or places to go for meals. Hostel is self-catering and run by volunteers. Very friendly (and cyclist) couple running it when I was tere and interesting group of walkers. Well provided for self-catering kitchen and good facilities...

A return booking for us as we book the whole hostel out foraweekend. Caters for 6 families, a great chance for all ages to get together in a safe simple location. Loads to do around the area, beach not far. The hostel has all you need to cater simply, Newport high street a 2 minute walk if required. Excellent facility.

YHA Newport (Pembrokeshire, between Fishguard and Cardigan - not to be confused with the city of Newport near Cardiff) is one of my favourite hostels and walking locations. The hostel has a central location in the old village school, near a small Spar and other facilities. There's a huge variety of stunning scenery within walking distance - the coast path,...

The hosts were warm and friendly and let me leave my bag there for the whole day. The kitchen area is functional, has everything you'd expect and a lovely big table great for socialising. There is a lounge upstairs with board games and comfy squishy sofas, the bedrooms were a little cosy but worked fine. Showers and toilets and everywhere...

An odd bag this. Decent rooms and facilities but pretty unfriendly staff. A couple of odd incidents occurred. Firstly, on arrival, an incredibly unfriendly "Are we expecting them?" when checking in. Also, a quick look at the lounge lauded a "What are you looking for?" response - not the nicest way to start off. Also, when bringing back supplies for...

This is a very small hostel - only seven rooms (3 downstairs and 4 upstairs). We stayed in room 7, a private family room with four bunks. The beds were much better quality than in other hostels and were very comfortable. As with other hostels we had to make up the beds ourselves but I believe there is talk about...

Generally a well maintained and very clean youth hostel. Big spacious bedrooms and solid soundproof doors though they did bang a bit. Lovely upstairs living room for relaxing which looks like a log cabin. Good kitchen. We also liked the village it was situated in. Not sure why it only has 3 stars when neighbouring hostels have 4 as it...

I stayed three nights in August 2014. The hostel is clean and comfortable and very well located. The volunteer manager was very helpful and everyone staying there was very friendly. Diolch yn fawr / Thank you for your review. Glad to hear you enjoyed your time at YHA Newport. Thank you for highlighting the problem of the lack of light in the lounge at night. I shall look to ordering some lamps to hopefully combat this problem. We hope to see you again sometime at the hostel. Kind Regards Stewart
