The bakery goods are so yummy. Be sure and try the cookies. The best was the peach thing, not sure what it was called. And the sticky, nutty cinnamon rolls...get there early for those...they sell out fast.

This cabin is a couple of blocks from the main roadhouse. It is next to the town runway. While we heard a handful of planes, that wasn't a problem for sleeping, ad they were done flying around dark (9pm in September). It is a bit rundown looking from the outside, with a corrugated metal roof, and a yard strewn with...

Upstairs room, cosy, clean bathroom. Owner was wonderful we were picked up at the train station and shown around town, providing us with lots of interesting information about the area. Food was scrumptious, the berry pies a favourite.

We took the early bus into Talkeetna to have breakfast. . The restraunt was filled to capacity, but we got in and found a table for 4. The waitstaff is understaffed for the crowd, the floors uneven, and it was very slow. The food was average, but the raspberry cinnamon roll was heavenly

We stopped at the Talkeetna Roadhouse upon recommendation. The menu was fine, but pretty pricey. I had the Standard breakfast and my companion had the lasagna. The breakfast was underwhelming and pretty plain. The lasagna was heavy on greens and light on cheese. Overall it was a fine experience. We both left stuffed to the brim. The next day I...

Hello! Thank you for taking the time to review the Roadhouse and describe your experience. There are definitely a lot of moving parts that make up the daily running of this busy place and in the summer our staff swells to nearly 50. I'm sorry your interaction on the phone was less than helpful. Actually, I'm horrified. It is our...

This place is very charming with family style seating. We sat with a couple travelling through Alaska via RV, two local elders, and local B&B owner. This made for a lot of good stories. I had the standard breakfast which came with coffee, juice, scrambled eggs, potatoes, bacon, and toast for $13.95. The portion of egg and potato was large,...

The garden cabin was a perfect get-away. It was charming, clean, comfy, warm, and wonderful. I could have stayed for a while! Thank you! It was the perfect distance from Main St. And, it was super nice to have the option of using the Roadhouse showers while staying at a dry cabin. The outhouse was a very pleasant outhouse experience,...

We were in Talkeetna Roadhouse just for 1 night before to go to Denali Park. We stayed in the Little Cabin at the back. Cabin was nice. Staff were very kind and helpful. But Talkeetna has no much to see. If you are going to take a Denali Sightseeing flight probably you would need to stop here. Otherwise my recommendation...

Six of us just had the tastiest lunch ever! Sweet potato corn chowder soup was thick, hot, and delicious! Reindeer chili and pasties were outstanding! BLT slider best bacon and fresh baked bun, best ever! All breads baked fresh in house daily. What a treat!! Items in their bakery are fresh daily. The cinnamon roll purchased for later was wonderful!...

My family of 4 stayed in the Little Cabin in the Back for one night. Out of all the hotels and lodges we stayed at on our 2 1/2 week tour through Alaska, this was the highlight, especially for the (low) price we paid. The kids loved sleeping in the loft of a real log cabin. The wifi worked great...

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
The Roadhouse, built around 1917, is one of the oldest establishments still in operation on Main Street in "Beautiful Downtown Talkeetna." Our kitchen is open to the public and we've become famous for big breakfasts, hearty soups, homebaked breads and genuine frontier hospitality. Our bakery produces all sorts of treats each day such as pies, a variety of cinnamon rolls, cookies, cakes, brownies, and savory pasties. The historic end-of-the-road town of Talkeetna is known today throughout the world as the base for international climbers making their way to climb Denali (Mt. McKinley), North America's tallest peak. Denali and the other peaks of the Alaska Range offer a magnificent backdrop for this picturesque town of around 800 people, located about two and a half hours north of Anchorage and halfway between Anchorage and Denali park entrance both by rail and road. The guest rooms range from private to hostel-style, rustic cabins to the school teacher's apartment located above the Talkeetna Historical Society Museum. Bathrooms are "down the hall" in typical Roadhouse fashion, and even though a bathroom has been added to Trapper John's Cabin, guests can still use its 5-Star outhouse! Breakfast is a separate charge but we provide our guests with coffee/cocoa/tea throughout their stay. ... more   less
